In 12-step recovery rooms I’ve heard stories of how this medical procedure breaks women emotionally and spiritually. They never talk about all the women whose hearts this medical procedure destroys. They did not address the process she described at all, just tried to laugh and insult their way into a distraction, and it sadly worked. It is so hard in the moment to stay focused and not follow them down these little rabbit holes because they are taking the audience's attention off of the reality of the situation and appealing to a need to not be laughed at.
