I love so much of what JD Vance stands for and am praying every day for him and the President. This answer was a mixed bag. He started by justifying some abortions because they were “difficult” cases. The truth is a baby should never be torn apart limb from limb and killed for the crimes of her father. I know so many amazing people who were born after tragic cases of rape and incest. Jail the rapist for life. Let the baby live. I know it’s not always politically convenient to advocate for every life, but I believe the only way we shift culture is to refuse to compromise the lives of babies. VP Vance is willing to take major heat on other issues and be a crusader. I hope he finds his bold voice on the most important issue of all: life. The VP ended strong with the absolutely true point that abortion is our modern child sacrifice, and that Christian civilization ended child sacrifice and must work now to end abortion and protect every unborn life.

Today, I introduced my Private Members Bill titled Termination of Pregnancy (Terminations and Live Births) Amendment Bill 2024. This bill raises an important but challenging question: when does a child’s right to life begin to matter? The only way to terminate a pregnancy after 22 weeks and 6 days (the age of viability) is for a mother to go through labour. The bill requires that after 28 weeks—the third trimester—a healthy baby is delivered alive instead of being subjected to a painful and violent injection of potassium chloride to stop its heart and be delivered stillborn. It does not require the mother to form a maternal relationship with the child. After early delivery, the mother has the right to relinquish the child for adoption. We must find a balance between choice and responsibility. If a child can survive outside the womb, they should be given that chance. This bill is about protecting the right to life for viable babies at or beyond 28 weeks (seven months of pregnancy).

Deciding whether to accept or destroy a child you created based on their sex is simply eugenics. It’s wrong to leave one child indefinitely frozen because they are the wrong sex — or worse, to destroy that “extra embryo.” This is one of the many ethical problems with IVF and surrogacy. Infertility can be incredibly painful, but IVF and surrogacy put the wants of parents above the rights and needs of children. Children deserve better.

The reality is this: women are dying under pro-abortion laws. Regularly dying from the abortion pill, regularly rushed to the emergency room from Planned Parenthood facilities after botched abortions. Miscarriage care is not abortion. For the gazillionth time, there is never a medical need to conduct a late-term abortion in order to “save the mother’s life.” Once a baby is viable (currently around 24 weeks, will continue to get younger and younger), he’s able to be delivered and cared for without infringing on the mother’s health. If—for whatever reason—a pregnancy beyond 24 weeks becomes unnecessarily risky for the mother, labor can be induced or a cesarean can be done, and both baby and mother can be cared for. Will the baby survive? Not always. But there’s no medical necessity to go in and intentionally and actively kill him when he can theoretically survive ex-utero. Pro-abortion activists fall back on this “to save the life of the mother” thing as if there’s a magical third option wherein the problematic pregnancy just disappears. At 24 weeks and beyond, a near fully developed baby is coming out one way or the other—either dead or alive, either whole or in pieces. Going in and killing and dismembering a viable baby doesn’t save a mother’s life.

The creation of the first detransitioner clinic at Texas Children's Hospital is a massive win and a big step toward exposing the lie that “gender-affirming care” is evidence based and medically necessary. Gender doctors and activists have to be FORCED to acknowledge detransitioners because their existence shines a bright light on the pseudoscientific lie that everyone is born with an innate and immutable gender identity we all sense from toddlerhood, that it can be misaligned from our bodies, and that this mismatch can be corrected with puberty blockers, hormones, and surgeries.
