Visiting Shenzhen China 🇨🇳 today and wow! There is no way someone can stand here and not be inspired by how much China has changed in the past 3 decades 🤯 There is not another city on the planet that has transformed the way Shenzhen has, once a fishing village of 25,000 people, it’s now home to 18 million people and the hub of tech and innovation in China 🇨🇳 This is the DJI headquarters, that’s right, the company that has emerged as the number one drone company in the world is based in this building Over 8,000 employees spread across offices, R&D Centers and testing facilities. This is honestly one of the most impressive buildings I’ve ever seen The British Trade Minister just visited Shenzhen for the FIRST time in 40 years last week and just think, how many politicians around the world could understand where China is and where it is going if they simply came and saw the truth with their own eyes. To borrow a phrase from my friend and China insider Shaun Rein the next China is China! 🚀

My friend @saschaCodes is traveling in 🇨🇳 China right now Videos here are in Lijiang in Yunnan province which is in the south and borders on Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam, so very close to SEA! I always see Americans and Europeans talk about Asia and then only visit Japan, which is nice but there's so much more to Asia and barely anyone these days visits China anymore China is in many ways a lot like Japan, with cute little walkable traditional villages, and then these massive neon-lit mega cities with the highest speed trains in the world and extreme convenience just like in other Asian cities like Bangkok Anything you hear these days about China is highly politicized, which is sad because it's an amazing country to visit and the people are some of the friendliest I've ever met China has 8 entirely different regional cuisines, my fav being Sichuan, which is spicy and famous for the hotpot And using their high speed train (going 300-400km/h) you can essentially travel the entire country now with ease Obviously the politics is another thing but not everything has to always be about politics, and more foreigners visiting China would long term actually help their politics Politics keeps people apart while travel brings people together I think

China now owns the world's largest and most tunnel boring machines (TBMs). 70% of the world's total are made in China. But this dominance is hard-earned. In 1997, to build the Qinling Tunnel, China paid Germany RMB 700 million for just 2 SECONDHAND TBMs. 700 million is an entire region’s tax revenue back then. But the 700 million didn't include support. China also had to hire German engineers for €800/day (≈RMB 6,800), while the average Chinese worker earned less than RMB 4,000 a year. Back then, the global market was locked by the US, Japan, and Germany. China was being robbed, simply because it couldn't produce its own. In 2002, China began the painful journey of self-development of TBM, which has over 30,000 precision parts. After 6 years, in 2008, China's first homegrown TBM was born. In a 2012 head-to-head test, it matched the best in the world. Today, Chinese TBMs lead the world. Dignity is earned. This is just an example in TBM. In humanoid robots, in electric cars, in solar farms, in drones...China has plenty of examples that make the country strong again.

Now the Chinese Foreign Minister makes a similar claim and says China also mediated. On July 4, 2025, the Deputy Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen Rahul Singh had publicly stated that during Operation Sindoor, India was actually confronting and combating China. Given that China was decisively aligned with Pakistan, Chinese claims of having mediated between India and Pakistan are concerning - not just because they directly contradict what the people of our country have been led to believe, but because they seem to make a joke of our national security itself. This claim must also be understood in the context of our relationship with China. We have begun re-engagement with them - but unfortunately it has been on Chinese terms. The Prime Minister’s clean chit to China on June 19, 2020, has considerably weakened India’s negotiating position. Our trade deficit is at record highs and much of our exports are dependent on imports from China. Provocative actions by China in relation to Arunachal Pradesh continue unabated. China Eastern flight, Lanzhou to Guiyang this morning. Plane had already landed and was taxiing when someone in front starts screaming “Fire!” and running. People look up... overhead bin is on fire.. Crew and passengers trying to deal with it, then the fire trucks show up on the ramp. We keep seeing this exact scene. Power banks and lithium batteries in the overhead bins. They get crushed, shorted, or just decide to go thermal runaway. Happened on Air China last year too, and plenty of other flights. That’s why the rules exist: keep the power bank under the seat or in the seat pocket, switched off, and only bring the ones that meet the airline limits. I’ve been on the ramp long enough to know how fast cabin smoke can turn into a real problem. Glad this one happened after landing and not at altitude, but “lucky” shouldn’t be the strategy. Be careful with these things, guys. Or leave the big power banks at home if you’re not sure.

Chinese factories can build a car in 77 seconds, with robots doing the work at a scale the U.S. cannot match right now. And Trump is out here talking about tariffs like they are a magic switch that makes America “make things again.” Look at the automation in that kind of plant. Even with tariffs, it would take the U.S. decades, realistically 40 years, to rebuild the industrial base and the machine building capability needed to produce that level of robotics at scale, then stack enough volume to get true economies of scale. And for what, exactly. U.S. cars barely have a market outside the U.S. Meanwhile China builds for the world. As for the rest of the planet watching America’s tariff daydreams: couldn’t the world care less.

A major scene unfolded at the CJP protest at Jantar Mantar today during dinner. People were served roti with khichdi, and many got upset, asking, "What kind of combination is this?" They were almost about to get into a physical confrontation with Junaid. But at the last moment, some CJP members stepped in and apologized, assuring everyone that it wouldn't happen again from tomorrow. Only then did the crowd calm down. Just two months ago, we were on the verge of letting go of a customer that we had been serving for more than two years. The prices were super competitive as they were procuring these springs from China. According to our cost calculations, we would have to sell them these springs at our breakeven price point. We would not be making any profit from their orders. The volumes were huge and we decided to take up the challenge. In manufacturing, one of the very important metric that your product cost depends on is cycle time. The speed at which we are able to process that part within the desired tolerance. Higher the speed at which you can manufacture, lower the cost of making that component. We could only manage 150 pcs/minute on our imported machines. At this speed, it was unviable for us. It would only make sense for us to continue if we were somehow able to manufacture this spring at a minimum of 200 pcs/minute. We were far apart and it seemed we wouldn’t be able to reach that goal. We were on the verge of giving up after two years of persistent effort in increasing our speed. Today, we manufactured that same spring on the CNC machines that we built in-house at a whopping 220 pcs/minute! We went from almost letting go off that customer to now asking that very same customer to increase our order volumes! First video is our imported machine at 150 pcs/minute. The second video is our in-house machine at 220 pcs/minute.

In (at least) one of his interviews, Palmer Luckey explains that we can build incredible high tech weapons, but China can still wreck carriers and bases by throwing thousands of cheaper missiles at them, even lower quality ones, because the numbers just overwhelm you and burn through your defenses fast. The problem is that we don’t produce enough of our good tech, we build it way too slow, and it costs a fortune to replace, while they’re pumping missiles out of factories at a pace we gave up on years ago. So all that fancy stuff only works if you can actually keep replacing it once the fight starts, and right now we can’t. We need systems that are cheap enough to lose and easy to make in big numbers, because the side that runs out first loses.

The problem is that we don’t produce enough of our good tech, we build it way too slow, and it costs a fortune to replace, while they’re pumping missiles out of factories at a pace we gave up on years ago. So all that fancy stuff only works if you can actually keep replacing it once the fight starts, and right now we can’t. We need systems that are cheap enough to lose and easy to make in big numbers, because the side that runs out first loses.
