Cozz, Dreamville's artist signee reveals J Cole's label, Dreamville was under Interscope (Kendrick's label too) but then Dreamville couldn't recoup the money so Interscope had them in a jam for 2.5 years which miraculously went away after he backed out of the beef with Drake & Kendrick and in fact partnered with UMG for a sweet sweet distribution deal ( JID talked about this on Joe's podcast). If I had a brain I'd think J Cole used Drake as a meal ticket but what do I know. I don't think Drake will be getting that call from J Cole anytime soon. "Interscope was giving us(Dreamville) the runaround. We sent them our plan, had budget mapped out and during that time Interscope was swapping out like presidents and the staff (just like Drake said in his lawsuit), they cleaned the building up and they got like new people to run shit. The people that weren't in the green or the bigger artists they weren't trying to put no money into it. It's hard to recoup as an artist unless you got that head or you're Drake (Drake recouped 500m in 1.5 years) or somebody like that especially when you get a large sum of money out of the label, the system is rigged."
