Book the hearse and dig the grave, because Labour are already dead. They’re a spent force, getting heckled by the working-class voters they betrayed wherever they go. Andy Burnham can’t reverse their misfortunes. Starmer taints everything he touches, including Burnham’s bid to become MP for Makerfield in the upcoming by-election. Even if Burnham wins and becomes Prime Minister, he won’t reverse mass migration. There is no fiscal headroom for his infrastructure projects and plans to nationalise key industries. The IMF has warned that no more revenue can be raised from raising taxes, and that the bond markets Burnham would rather ignore are on the brink of insolvency. So I don’t buy the polling that says Burnham could win a majority at the next general election. If he enters government, he will be bound by the same fiscal constraints, working with the same system, and have a Cabinet full of the same inadequate Ministers as Starmer has. It doesn’t matter whether Wes Streeting, Angela Rayner, Burnham, Starmer, or Larry the Cat are holding the poisoned chalice in 2029. This will be the last Labour government. The battle now is for who succeeds them.

Plastering solar panels on prime farmland while reportedly spending £50m on sun dimming experiments is a prime example of this juxtaposition stupidity. Spending £billions on importing oil and gas from Norway while blocking new UK oil and gas exploration in the North Sea is another example of this ridiculousness. And spending £30bn on carbon capture machines while winter fuel payments are cut from pensioners and welfare benefits are cut from the disabled simply highlights a Labour government that is drunk on power but without any credible understanding of how to govern effectively by spending our tax revenues in the most effective and efficient way. “We’ve got a current Labour government headed by Keir Starmer at the moment and potentially in future headed by Andy Burnham makes no difference because both of them appear to have the same view on this and therefore the Labour government’s view won’t change and that is that they’ve decided that they can ban 16 year olds from accessing social media due to the vulnerability of their minds and how social media may well indeed manipulate their minds and due to that vulnerability. The Labour Party doesn’t want 16 or under accessing social media. Meanwhile, an 11 year old, according to the Labour Party, does have the mental capacity to decide that they are not a boy or that they are not a girl, that they’ve been born in the wrong body and that they can irreversibly alter the way that their body grows their sexual organs by stopping and blocking puberty chemically. So an 11 year old can make that decision. But at the same time, a 16 or 15 year old can’t access social media. It is a very, very strange position that the Labour government has taken, explained by the facts, of course, as you saw Andy Burnham there giving £100,000 as a grant as mayor of Manchester to an organisation that was lobbying for this change. And this morning it has become clear that Luxon & Goldsmith will not stop the BSA from overreach, allowing them to determine they have jurisdiction over any digital communication.. this ties in nicely with the social media ban. In Parliament I asked what the Labour Party have got against people having a bit of fun? A pint with mates. A meal out. A family holiday. A day at the races. People work hard for these things. Yet Labour keeps hammering the very businesses that make them possible with higher taxes, higher costs and policies that destroy jobs. Pubs closing. Hospitality struggling. Young people losing the opportunity of a first job. Sectors that were once dubbed the “fun economy” are now struggling to survive - being crushed by a Government that simply does not understand business. Labour are a glum bunch, but why should the rest of the country be dragged into their misery?

Good to see Luxon calling it straight. A vote for TOP is a vote for Labour and the Greens and as Luxon warns, this is the party that literally wants to make every New Zealander a beneficiary - hooked on their Citizens’ Income. While their destructive Land Value Tax would wreak absolute carnage, potentially forcing tens of thousands of retirees and pensioners out of their family homes or burying them in hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt, erasing the inheritances their children and grandchildren were counting on.
