It's an absolute lie that 88% of halal meat in the UK is stunned. The Mohammedan definition of 'stunning' requires that the animal is able to regain consciousness and is alive when Allah’s name is called at the time of slaughter. This is Rupert Lowe MP's superb speech on halal slaughter. Unwittingly we are eating halal meat because the govt refuses to make labelling compulsory. Many are stunned but at a far lower level & can take a minute to die. He describes it as "two-tier slaughter".

Labour MP Yasmin Qureshi argued opposition to non-stun slaughter is Islamophobic, and Halal slaughter is better because butchers hug the animals before they slit their throats. Blatant sophistry.
