Absolutely devastated? Lad got sent off for diving and you're acting like it's Hillsborough. Touch grass, Murat.

“mistake by the referee”... Lmao, what was he supposed to do? Book a player who did nothing wrong just to benefit another guy who was clearly trying to fool him?

"So unfair! We got caught cheating!"🤦‍♂️😂 I was proud of our team until after the game when there was a complete lack of responsibility and only the referee was blamed. I think Xhaka was the only sensible one that I saw.

He should be slamming his own player for such a stupid dive

I hate Argentina, let's get that out there. I am sorry for Switzerland. But you cannot excuse a player for leaping in the air with zero contact, taking half a dozen ground rolls, while screaming like the gates of hell have opened up in front of him. That's simply embarrassing.

Why is he defending his player ?? It cost them a chance of going through , on a yellow and blatant cheating to con the ref and get another player booked so he deserved everything he got, so please shut ya mouth and tell people how it is #shitscared

Sorry, but he’s a cheat, as much as I wanted the Swiss to win, he cheated and deserved to be sent off. Hope he learns from it.

The match turned on this decision but the player must take responsibility for his action. Hard luck Switzerland. 🇨🇭

If you players do such stupid things, you ought to be devastated.

@Ahmed_A_Askar Have a word with Embolo about simulation and cheating.

Football isn't just about technique, physical strength, and game intelligence. Above all, it's about respecting the rules. Your player's simulation was a terrible lesson in sportsmanship. Perhaps, instead of looking for excuses, you should explain to your players that honesty is more important than a made-up foul to get an opponent a yellow card.

"My actors were doing their job perfectly fine but the referee thought we were in a football match where simulation is punished with a yellow card. We were not there to play a football match, we were there to act."

He shouldn’t have dived then

Not sure the red card would've happened if it had of been against anyone but Argentina. For the second world cup in a row we are watching some very curious rules and decisions when it comes to Argentina.

im sorry, he tried to cheat, got caught and ur team paid for it. its not behavior that should be paid tribute to. i rather applaud the ref for applying the letter of the law by giving him the 2nd yellow. gotta root out diving from the game.

I don’t get this. I hope it’s a case of backing your player in public and tearing strips off him behind closed doors

The Swiss got robbed.... The ref didn't catch Embolo diving at the time so it makes zero sense it had to involve VAR as there was no controversy at all... only explanation is, Fifa wants Argentina to get through!

Diving while on a yellow card? When a player dives, he’s not only conning the referee- he’s disrespecting the fans who have paid to watch football.

I mean personally I'd ban the idiot from the national team for costing you the biggest chance in your country's history to reach a world cup semi final. Instead of justifying his cheating. 🤷

He dived to get another player booked & got handed his arse, deserved it especially when it was unnecessary as Switzerland were in the ascendancy. People siding with a cheat need to question their morals ! But are we there yet @EddieHearn ?

Paid tribute to him for being a cheating idiot who's actions ruined the tournament for his teammates and his country.

Mfwethu, Yakin can complain but when you're down to 10 men, that's football. Argentina didn't make the rules. Asibafuni excuses, adapt or go home.

Typical. Swiss tried cheating and thought they could get away with it. And when caught, arguing rules are unfair & shouldn't apply to them. Manager should bear responsibility.

That’s the problem with the modern game. Embolo CLEARLY dived. He deserved his second yellow, even if it came about in a weird way. The only one genuinely at fault there was Breel Embolo, yet he defends him. That’s what’s wrong.

Unfortunately this is what a real foul is like, no simulations. And guess what? The Portuguese ref didn't call it. Red card any and everyday

Referee made a mistake by giving the Argentina player a yellow card. Take the yellow card away. Free kick for Argentina. Game one. Embolo action doesn’t know deserve a yellow card. Especially if he already have one yellow card. It’s harsh decision that ruined the game.
