It’s one thing cancelling a day or 2 before, but actually on the day, already booked in, gowned up with the stockings on, takes the piss!! Peterborough is a good 40 minute drive from home too, wasted fuel which we’ll never get back, wife took a day off work and now currently driving back to get me! 🤬

They are probably waiting for the next dinghy full of surgeons…. Sorry you are going through it.🥺

They did exactly the same to me last year with my bladder cancer operation. Got there at 7am , they made me wait until 4pm then told me my op was cancelled.

Assume the surgeon was with private patients.

You're right the NHS is a mess. I waited 2 years to get to see the musculoskeletal Doc at hospital. 2 years in agony after a fall. Now got to wait for an appointment for scans might be another 2 years 🤬

Mate I feel your pain , taken my son to the royal London hospital 3 times to be told his appointment has been cancelled and asked , didn’t you get the letter, I’m like yeah I thought I’d drag my 3 year old son all the way to London for nothing 🤷‍♀️ nhs is fucked

The NHS is f***ed ....... low standards and cannot keep up with demand due to overloading - we DO NOT have the infrastructure to cope with this migration issue and those who have NEVER and won't EVER contribute! So sorry Mark,

I’m wondering if our data is being shared with the NHS in that if you are on the far right and had a knock on the door from mr plod, you are black listed. It wouldn’t surprise me . My daughter had a day surgery op cancelled TWO WEEKS BEFORE the date with the excuse that an EMERGENCY case was taking priority. I could appreciate that an emergency takes precedence, but two weeks notice for an emergency 🤷🏼‍♀️🤣

This happened to me although they told me at 4pm when i had been sat in a gown all day from 7am freezing. It is intentional

Bloody hell! Really feel for you. I fought to get on the waiting list for spinal surgery. They kept me on the list for three years then being disabled I couldn't get to the hospital 70 miles away for surgery, so it was cancelled and I'm off the list, here in Scotland.

That's disgusting. Surely they could have either told you the day before or as soon as you came to stop you from waiting around. Why didn't they have a backup surgeon just in case things like this happen? The nhs is a joke, I'm still trying to get care for a rare pain condition

But ..but .. but how could this be so? Hasn't Labour said that it's "OUR NHS". What they really mean is that it's THEIR NHS. Apparently they are "immensely proud" of the "world class" service it offers.

Keep pushing! My brother just died at 42 because his heart operation was put back 3 times! He ended up waiting nearly a year and when he went down for op they couldn’t restart his heart because the damage was to bad from it working to hard all that time!!!

They must book within 28 days of a cancelled op. If a hospital cancels you the night before then they are really fucked. In reality the whole theatre list and staffing will be looked that morning. Surgeons are not interchangeable.
