i agree w/ his take that pple are happier working longer on things that interest them than fewer hours on things they don't care about. the idea this happens in banking is comical though

How about money. Don’t know why these guys keep inventing creative explanations for what is simple. People are willing to go through the banking gauntlet because the compensation is very high. You remove that nobody is staying back for the interesting work.

Think this is actually spot on. The more correct question may be if people find interesting work / passion within banking or if the (at least primary) driver is comp. Not saying it’s one or the other, but might be the right debate to have.
