I am a USATF Official, and officiate a lot of Pole Vault. Granted, I don't get to watch it in slow motion, but I do get to watch it up close. And, it is amazing to watch. Pole Vaulters are a special breed, a special type of athlete.
That's Nina Kennedy, the Australian pole vaulter. She's the 2024 Olympic gold medalist and won the women's pole vault at Weltklasse Zürich 2024 with a 4.87m clearance. This slow-mo clip captures her impressive form!
Yes. I tried it once as a kid. I wasn’t taught/shown how to do it. Just, run down there, stick the pole in the hole and pull yourself over the bar. LOL FAILED. I tried, by nearly pulling my arms out of their socket. Feet didn’t leave the ground.That’s it.:(
A trans-woman athlete was up next, but caught his ball-sack on the bar on the way over.

Poetry in motion
Who is she? How high? Do you show this and don't give her credit?
Pole vaulting requires running speed and gymnastics skills.
👍🏻👀💪🏻

Cool clip from inside Zurich Main Station 👍🏻

The most useless sport in the world
Beautiful synchrony.
@Matheus87076351 Wow 😮
It's really perfect
The embodiment of elegance and ability
Absolutely fucking insane. Humans are wild.
She nailed it beautifully
I learned to pole vault at school with bamboo or aluminium poles. The fibreglass pole was a game changer, though. When it all goes right, it the best fun you can have with your shorts on!
