My mother has MS, she walks just fine normally. If she's going on a long trip or expected to walk long she'll bring a wheelchair. It's really not that abnormal for someone with a wheelchair not to be completely immobile

Good grief. A lot of ppl including me have limited mobility. The pain when walking (or standing) gets progressively worse with each step until it becomes unbearable. This is very common in people with back pain and/or sciatica. So we can walk a little but not a lot, so we need a wheelchair or scooter for anything longer than walking from the kitchen to the living room.
