There are chat rooms on almost every site: aka the comment section. My daughter met “Levi” in the comment section of CapCut. This is an app where you can make videos. My kids are not allowed to talk to people they don’t know face to face. So when I went through her phone and found “Levi”, some “guy” she was talking to for a couple of weeks, she lost her phone to “mean mom”. She’s 16. And I read EVERY message for that time span. She is gullible. These groomers are good - very good. If your child has a “friend” they met online and you don’t know them face to face, then end it NOW. These sick pervs know exactly how to sound like young people without giving away who they really are. I’m only making a comment to motivate other parents to CHECK THEIR PHONES. They hide messages with the names of other friends or siblings or other family members. Don’t let them have the phones past a certain time at night. No phones during the day while at school. You have blocking functions. USE THEM. Absolutely no social media. I allowed CapCut for creating art and I got some person named Levi grooming my kiddo. That’s not even social media!!! I allowed this app because I was trying to encourage her art skills - not find some random “dude” to commiserate with. I took my kid’s phone away. Yes - it’s a pain. But she has gotten better. And she is less “dark” as I call it. DO NOT TRUST YOUR CHILD!! They are just kids and breaking rules is how they learn. That is why you can’t trust them at this age. My granddaughter was groomed like this on discord at 12yo after her mother died. They found her on Roblox. She was cutting and sending photos and video. She tried to carve their name in her arm. She is an honor student from a good family. I was suspicious when her personality began to change and took her phone after she was sleeping. That is when we found the photos. Parents must be hyper vigilant. It happens.

I outlawed Roblox last year in our home. My gut told me that there was something just not right with it. Yet another instance where mother's intuition was on point. 🙏
