I live in an extremely deer dense area. Don't touch babies, don't approach. Mama will charge.

No matter how cute do not touch wild mammals babies ever. Their mother is somewhere near and if protection instincts kicks in you are doing rabies shots in no time.

If you touch baby deer, very often their mother will no longer accept them and will abandon them.

Actually that is survival instinct. Fawns have no odor and it it safer for them to hunker down where it may not be noticed than for them to try and outrun a predator. Granted it’s usually done in tall grass rather than the cement but the instinct is still there.

We were learned not to touch young deer, mother will resist the smell of a human later

I think it knew the person wasn't a threat. I remember my cousin and I going bird hunting on a regular basis, and we walked from his farm to the area we'd hunt. We would cross through a pasture of cows. If we go into the pasture without our rifles in our hands, the cows would approach us. If we were holding our rifles they would move away from us. 🤔

Well you just signed it's death warrant. That is for sure. If you pet the young deer and the mother smell you on it. It will abandon it.

I know we as humans want to touch little cute things. However, please educate yourself on wild animals, even some domestic animals. If you touch them and transfer your human scent onto them it will end badly for the little ones. The parent will at times abandon them or kill them.

If it were Nigeria, this animal would have been dead since. We don't do pets like this over here 😆😆😆😆
