@apiratedude How does that airframe handle the recoil from that 105? Like aren’t those planes made out of aluminum?

Development: The M102 is a 105mm lightweight howitzer developed for the US Army in the 1960s, using lightweight materials such as aluminum alloy to reduce weight in order to replace the existing M101A1 howitzer. It has been used since the Vietnam War and is suitable for airborne units or helicopter transport. Suitability for AC-130: It began to be mounted on the AC-130 gunship starting in the 1970s. Originally, it replaced the 40mm cannon on the side and installed the 105mm howitzer, and has been utilized for ground support since the latter half of the Vietnam War. The AC-130 is a gunship converted from the C-130 transport aircraft, specialized in night operations and precision strikes. Current Status: In the latest AC-130J "Ghostrider" model, the 105mm howitzer was initially omitted from the plans, but subsequent mounting is possible utilizing spare space and power. It is operated by the US Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC).

If they were really serious they’d just put tons of Ar-15s on the side because we all know how dangerous they are 🤣
