Academics write for each other, not for people. Steven Pinker has spent over four decades doing the opposite, and thinks current academic writing is "enormous wasted effort." "There's an awful lot of brilliant work, really smart people in academia. Why are they doing it? Just to entertain each other?...

YOKO ONO: ONOCHORD, VENICE, 2004 Yoko: The world is divided in two industries. One is the War Industry and the other is the Peace Industry. The people in the War Industry are totally together. They don't have to talk to each other, even. They know exactly what they want to do. They want to go out there, kill and make money. But the people in the Peace Industry, which are us - we are so idealistic that each one of us criticises the other Peace Person in the Peace Industry. And we are always just arguing and we are wasting our energies doing that. So let's just forgive each other and see that we are in the Peace Industry and that's all that counts. Even if you are not marching for peace, just be yourself, being a florist, being a merchant, being a talior, anything. That way you're contributing to the Peace Industry. People are just concentrating on fear, confusion and anger. And therefore just for a moment, I'd like us to think about Love. In a very magical, straight way, John and I met in London and from then on we stood for Peace and Love. And when I do this kind of event. Well it is... I was inspired to do it, but I still think that I'm still with John in spirit. John and I created the country called Nutopia. Not Utopia, because there was Utopia as a concept already. And we wanted to create a new concept, so we just added N on it - Nutopia - and as a country. Well, that is the concept of a country. And we all are citizens of that country. And in my apartment in the Dakota Building, we put a little plaque on the back door, the kitchen door. It says 'Nutopian Embassy' and even now we have that. (laughs). Nutopia exists in our minds. And because of that, some people want to rebel against it. The reason some want to rebel against it is a good proof that it exists. I think that it was a terrible thing that happened in Chechnya. But we have to still keep our hopes up. And instead of giving up, we have to keep on sending the message of Love to each other. You say that I am the Ambassador of Peace. We are all Ambassadors of Peace. You are too. Everybody in this room are Ambassadors of Peace. Just the fact that we are not participating in War. The fact that we are here, and we are what we are, means that we are in the Peace Industry. All of us. John and I used to say that our apartment in the Dakota is a conceptual monastry, just for the two of us. And when we go out of the Dakota, we get so many people communicating with us, so it's very important that we had silence and quietness. And my apartment is a very small space compared to the world. And I need that for my peace of mind. You should be kind to each other. You should come together, hug each other, love each other, express our love to each other and we should make it work. We should finally create a world that is a totally an Earth for Us. So let's do it. Elon Musk: The cumulative voice of the people should decide what's newsworthy. “In times past, we didn't have the technology for this, so the only way to learn news was for it to be filtered through a small number of news organizations and then to be printed in newspapers or broadcast. There wasn't really any way that people could speak to each other or communicate with each other. But now there is, because people can be online. I'm a big believer in citizen journalism being actually way better. At first, citizen journalism may sound like, well, doesn't that mean just a whole bunch of amateurs are doing journalism? No, actually, it's way better because if you have actual experts in the field saying things that's way better than a journalist, if you have people who are actually at the event, live. Look at the attempted assassination of President Trump, people actually at the event live, doing video, people are reporting it. That's the kind of thing that is actually far better information than filtering it through a small number of publications, which ends up being controlled by maybe five editors-in-chief. There's like five people that control the news. And even though there are multiple newspapers, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, a few others, they decide what is newsworthy. But that should not be how it works. It should be the voice of the people, the cumulative voice of the people should decide what is newsworthy.” Philadelphia, October 18, 2024

🐰 Lately,....feeling like… I have to be with this person, I have to work with this person forever, like we’ll be working together for a really long time. If there’s anything, I have to say it. It’s like when we have a "แฟน,Fann" (gf/bf), you know? Like when there’s something I’m not happy with, or something I’m not okay with, I have to say it, I have to talk about it. Speaking up more. 🐨 For Mhee, Mhee don’t think it’s about adjusting or changing. Because mhee feel like in the end, even if our lifestyles match or are similar like we said before, there will still be things that are different anyway. For mheee… would choose not to change her, but to find the middle ground instead. What Mhee is okay with, what Son is okay with . Finding the point where it fits just right. Like Son said… talking helps us understand each other better. Mhee think that right there is the middle ground, and it’s something we need. We should keep that going continuously… like if we’re going anywhere or doing anything, we should tell each other. 🐰 True. 🐨 We’re always planning together, always thinking together, always talking together. Like, “What should we do?” “What are we doing during this period?” We’re the type who talk to each other , quite a lot. 🐰 We talk a lot Bringing this clip back again because I think it says a lot about their relationship. What really stood out to me was when Mhee said, “If we’re going anywhere or doing anything, we should tell each other.” It may sound simple, but honestly, that’s a very relationship-coded way of thinking. Not in a controlling sense, but in the way people naturally include each other in their daily lives. Sometimes they really do sound like an actual couple 🤭 — the kind that always tells each other where they’re going or what they’re doing.🧐😉 #ลูกหมีซอนญ่า #LMSY
