In my #Minecraft-like engine, mountains with this level of scale and detail were once out of reach on the #Dreamcast. But with recent optimizations, they're now a reality: • The renderer is now 19% faster, achieving near-peak efficiency at 30 cycles per vertex (up to 6.67 million vertices per second) • Aggressive occlusion culling reduces polygon counts by over 50% • Lighting and meshing is now 73% faster • Terrain generation is now 6% faster • Optimized frustum culling #indiegamedev #gamedev #Gamecube

The Bitcoin inverse head and shoulders from 2024 is still running. Bitcoin broke out, never hit target, and threw back to the neckline, which is also last cycle's all-time high range. Now it's testing that support, right at the 200-week. Insane.

The least verifiable part of AI R&D (and the thing which may bottleneck the automated researchers) is making calls on large experiments and big training runs. Interestingly, this may also partly explain why model parameter scaling has been slow for the last few years. Even for human AI researchers, it's better to run more experiments and do training runs at small(er) scale, and make up for the benefits of scaling with doing research faster and thus finding more compute efficiency gains.
