Trickle down economics is a fallacy. The market cannot provide affordable housing. Prices are only going up, driving people into homelessness, or out of the city entirely. The rent is too damn high in San Francisco. Prices are going up 15% year over year. A one bedroom averaging $3500 a month. This month I'll be introducing an affordability package at the Board of Supervisors. Legislation that will both make it easier to build more housing for new renters to live in, as well as advance rental transparency and eviction protections to make it easier for existing renters to stay here. Follow along in the weeks ahead as we announce each piece of legislation.

When I introduced the HOME Act, I said homes are for people, not corporations. Now, key parts of that work are moving forward in the bipartisan 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act. This legislation cracks down on Wall Street landlords, gives renters a way to report problems, reinvests penalties back into affordable housing, and holds bad actors accountable. This will be a major step forward for Nevada families.
