These Indigenous people protesting during #COP30 show us how to respond to climate summits where fossil fuel lobbyists and political agents of oil and gas companies fly in to give empty speeches and issue duplicitous communiqués while a climate disaster unfolds. Look at the devastation caused by the heavy rains in Kinshasa on the night of November 11–12, 2025, with severe human and material losses. The Democratic Republic of Congo, like much of the Global South, did not cause this climate crisis yet it bears the cost today while industrialized nations profit from fossil fuel exploitation at the expense of vulnerable populations.
