Horrible take, but I will explain why. Your $15 an hour construction job, yes, you were working hard, but you didn’t have to be nice to anybody. You didn’t have to fake interest in anyone. You just did the task so that’s what you were getting paid for — the task. Your roommate had to perform a certain skill and yes, there is a skill to being a bartender. It’s called interest. It’s called being nice to an asshole. It’s called faking interest in someone who wants to tell you their life story after a long week. The tip is my ability to give a shit about you. I don’t get to be mean, those people get fired. Now as for the girls who make obscene money as bottle girls, yes, that is ridiculous. I have worked in white collar, blue collar and bar collar. Guess what? They have all required certain skills.
