In the first game of tri series in 2000, at the Gabba, Australia cruising at 76/1 thanks to a brisk stand between Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist, Shoaib turned the game in a single over. First, he dismissed Ponting with a sharp leg-cutter edged to slip, then trapped Steve Waugh lbw with a fiery off-cutter on the very next ball. “Better than winning the lotto” In 2019 as our club stood on the brink of winning a first senior championship in 41 years, Dermot Kerr kindly agreed to help with a piece of filming ahead of the match. It wasn’t his thing, but he was happy to help. He died today. A lovely man, head of one of the pillar families in our town. We won the match that day, he was super proud of his two grandsons, and all his fine family. We’ve all lost a piece of Magherafelt. Thoughts with all the Kerr clan❤️
