There was a lot wrong with this challenge but not from Wharton

Yo think that was bad, Neco Williams of Forest was booked for this challenge on Tonali

Seemed like a good tackle. Won the ball, no studs showing. How long before football is non contact because that's where it feels like it's heading?

Imagine his tackle was a little off. And there was the Everton player leg, and 6-13 months off. That tackle was too risky and could end up terrible. That's why he was booked. I bet admin is a utd fan who remained behind in time when football was more like a survival game

Imagine I actually made the challenge instead of Wharton, that didn’t happen so it’s irrelevant

No studs, no high foot, feet pointed away, leading with knees and shins, clearly gets the ball first then the man, textbook tackle, refs off his rocker as is everyone who agrees with the decision, saying "what if it was a little off?"

It’s not even a foul let alone a yellow card. Szobozlai had the same at the weekend for a full bloodied tackle where both players kicked the ball at the same time. Rediculous

The Everton player tries to shield a ball that no longer is under his control by striding, it wasn’t even a foul never mind a card

Looking at this, the wrong player got booked

Players from both sides laughing at the incompetence of the referee, but he will be back out next week won't he.

The step which Gueye makes here should be cut out of the game. No attempt to control or protect the ball itself, just deliberately stepping across someone a yard away from it. If he got injured there it would be his own fault

Bit like Dewsbury-Hall getting booked v West Ham for clearly winning the ball eh & incurring a suspension .?? Could be wrong, but I've not seen ya mention that one..?? 🤷♂️🤷♂️

That was Adam Whartons ball all day long. Everton player had no control over the ball. Good honest challenge from him. The only thing that made that tackle dangerous was the Everton player lunging with his left leg over Wharton.

Do you understand what "culmination of fouls" means? I doubt you do so I'll explain it. 3-4 small fouls can lead to a yellow card the same way a single heavy foul can. Don't call yourself EPL Bible when you don't know football mate. Bit embarrassing.

It was for an accumulation of fouls, not just for that challenge

Wharton and Dewsbury-Hall should compare notes. The standard of EPL refereeing this season has been fucking atrocious.

Could’ve been the fact he should’ve had a yellow about 5 fouls before this

That ref was moving like an opp

Watch the 2 Buendia elbows Vs Burnley, he got booked for a nothing elbow in a genuine challenge. Then nearly gets knocked out and is down for 8 minutes from an INTENTIONAL elbow where the ref is closed and looking right at it, not even a free kick, VAR checks and nothing to see.

Totally agreed, ya wanna see dewsbury halls last 2 yellows farcical

The fact that Wharton and Gueye are laughing at the decision says it all

Was it his first foul play in that match or it followed others that he only got cautioned? Context is important

1. It's not a foul, and 2. Not a booking! Clear contact made with the ball, studs down and not reckless 🤷🏼♂️🫣 game is definitely gone!🤡

Are you farming engagements? Well deserved booking

Criminal that. These referees are so so bad. They're trying to make the game non contact. Nico Williams got a yellow for less than that. In fact, if anything, Tomori fouled him Scandalous standard of officiating goin on in the Premier league

They should have VARd it for a red for the Everton player

That's a bad tackle from Gueye, plants his studs on Wharton's shin while making no attempt to play the ball.

This is a potentially dangerous tackle. A yellow is only fair so it doesn’t repeat. Joao Pedro got a second yellow and a red for a high boot. His leg didn’t even touch the player, so yeah, fair decision by the ref

Ref was poor yesterday, but the yellow (i would imagine) would have been for persistent fouling as opposed to that 1 tackle. That was the 4th or 5th offence given against him (some of them were maybe not fouls either, to be fair)

I've said it before, I'm saying it again. The attackers need to stop making unnecessary moves to draw fouls. All they do is put themselves in danger of an injury for what? a foul? I'd be so mad if I was the manager.

Poor refereeing.

It’s going to be non contact before too long. Some refs seem to be quick to brandish a yellow card, however if I put a bet on Paddy Power on 3+ cards it’s nailed on you can almost rip a players leg off and they’ll wave it away, just saying.

Deserved yellow geez sit down 😂 surely this is for engagement farming
