it is so weird to actually sit there and watch it do this on a long car trip, i always thought i was going to get flashed or honked at but nope, never happened once i dont like losing the illumination of that part of the road tho, like if a deer jumped out or something

Adaptive Headlights are incredible. We were driving in our new Y and I kept noticing the brights were chunking parts of the headlights off when a car approached. I was confused. Then I realized what was going on and was shocked and impressed. You don't know how good of an upgrade it is until you get it.

I’ve been using them for six months and honestly do not recall a single problem with them. They work well.

Tesla's adaptive high beams aren't just a game-changer they're a night-time lifesaver. Euro NCAP data shows similar tech cuts accident risks by 20%, and with Tesla's rollout to North America, we're witnessing the future of driving safety. This isn't just tech; it's a beacon of innovation. #Tesla #FutureOfDriving

It is honestly one of the most impressive pieces of technology I have the privilege of experiencing in my life. Backwood mountain roads with this is a game changer. It even works with cars in front of you in your lane, illuminating the world around everyone safely.

One of the few things we’ve had in Europe long before US 😏

I wish @Tesla would fix it in Europe! Constantly getting flashed at by oncoming traffic when autopilot is on.

I don't get it. I see cars have this since at least a decade

I don’t follow. This is not any news or has this not been approved in the states until now? I’ve had it in sweden för 1,5 year. I think it’s great!

Does anyone know if the Model 3 has this?

Lexus had this 20 years ago. It was so innovative people had to get front bumpers to protect the adaptive headlights from being stolen. 20 years ago. This qualifies as innovation for @Tesla? 😬

That’s old technology used 20 years ago by the OEMs. Here is the latest technology of lighting Intelligent HDPL (High Definition pixel Light) projector headlight. $NIO @NIOGlobal

They're great, I never get flashed anymore by oncoming cars. When anyone posts about it, replies pour in that the tech has existed for some time, but that's beside the point - it's just great that Tesla has incorporated it, and it makes the car better.

It’s still not perfect though. I get flashed many times by oncoming traffic.

Love this feature. Disappointing that it isn’t on the Cybertruck. No excuse for a $80k-$115k not to have it adaptive beams but a $40k car has it.

Is it only in the latest version of the Y or is it in the older versions as well?

Would be nice. I get a lot of wildlife when I leave before sunrise, but also too many cars to have the brights on

Those works perfectly - drove 45k with TM3, I’ve forgot about changing the lights at all. It is fun to watch them adapting to the traffic on the highway

Now if only the auto wipers worked. Maybe add an intermittent wiper setting?

Video of my first drive impressions of the Tesla Model Y L Premium Long Wheelbase. It has adaptive damping that noticeably improves ride comfort on bad roads versus the shorter Model Y Premium (LA is a great place to test this lol). While the new Model Y Performance also has adaptive damping, that is tuned more for sportiness. The Y L dampening is tuned for comfort, and even on the 20" Uberhelix wheels, it soaks up the bumps really well. The Model Y L also benefits from updates to Tesla's adaptive system controls, which improve the accuracy and latency of their actuator control. The Model Y L doesn't feel all that noticeably larger than the Model Y while driving it, but what is immediately noticeable is the improved rear view out the back window from the review mirror. Due to the shape of the glass and the rear, you get a taller, more expansive view. It's very quiet in every row, and the Y L even features improvements in this area versus the current Model Y. There is a new "Rear Comfort" setting that is exclusive to the Model Y L. Basically what that does is it prioritizes ride comfort for second and third rows over optimal steering and handling and first row comfort. My wife said it was her favorite second-row experience of any Tesla she's ever been in (which is all of them). The Model Y L just feels really refined overall. The driving dynamics, sound dampening, suspension, FSD, etc, it all just feels really dialed in, and I think when you test drive it, you will agree. As for FSD, I got to try FSD V14.3.7, and it's as you'd expect: amazing. I'm going to post a couple separate dedicated FSD videos later today.
