Definitely on the right track. Taking meds for it is like taking Ozempic to lose weight. It works wonders for anyone w debilitating ADHD (most end up dead or in prison) because the majority of people with ADHD don’t have what it takes to discipline their minds like that. It takes constant self-checks like every ten seconds until hyper focus is achieved. Then it’s game over. But having a mental model that includes ritual, routine, and structure at the beginning is the best way to capture that lightning in a bottle and use it for good. Also, integrators are more rare than visionaries, but almost all people with ADHD are true visionaries. It took me twenty years to realize I’m a terrible employee because I intuitively knew my job function and our procedures could be more efficient. I’d come up with a better process and piss off my manager. Managers are good at sticking to what they’re told and reminding others to stay in line. Sometimes moving beyond that can be the greatest challenge to anyone with ADHD. We don’t let anyone tell us what to do until they’ve ran through all possible scenarios and outcomes with us and we’ve agreed that it’s the best approach for now. A visionary working under the direction of an integrator when neither of them know their personalities could be why so many startups and leadership transitions fail. Conclusion: Two rare paths exist: integrators becoming visionaries, and visionaries becoming integrators. But you don’t just become a visionary—it’s innate. Often, true visionaries start as integrators out of necessity, waiting for the right moment to let their ideas shine. That’s why the most exceptional leaders are visionaries who master integration. Combining inherent innovation with operational excellence is what truly sets the greatest apart.

Great post. Sounds like one of those books to prioritize. Ironically there’s an add for ADHD treatment on this post from big chain Walmurt.

“Fake” is very far reach. It’s certainly a neurotype. But overdiagnosed and used as an excuse/crutch and exploited by big pharma for profit? Most definitely.
