Im the opposite. I never studied in my entire life and I still managed to get As and Bs and even in honors and shit and were asked if I wanted to go to advanced level classes but I said no bc my friends are in the current class xD. And that was in English. I excelled so well in English. My secret is I just paid attention. Thats all you need really xD. Studying imo is when you dont pay attention in class or prolly need extra help too but yeah I never needed extra help
