AOC: ICE has less accountability than virtually any law enforcement agency in the U.S., yet they are some of the most well-funded, operating with impunity—and we just saw them murder an American citizen in cold blood in the street. Despite whatever lies the president wants to tell, you can see what happened for yourself. I hope this is prosecuted to the full extent of the law. This is an agency that must be reined in.

On April 8, ICE conducted an operation in Salem, Oregon, to arrest illegal alien Cristobal Felipe-Sarmiento. Sarmiento has a violent criminal history, including felony rape and sodomy. Anti-ICE activists doxxed all of the vehicles used in this operation, claiming that agents “kidnapped” an innocent community member. ICE said in a statement that Sarmiento “is who activists want to “protect.’” He will remain in ICE custody pending removal, the agency said.

The solution is simple: Minnesota should be honoring requests by the federal government to hold criminals that are here illegally that are already in our jails, rather than release them onto our streets, so that they can be detained by ICE in an orderly and safe manner. Other states don’t have the chaos that Minnesota is experiencing because they work with, rather than against, our federal partners. The refusal to honor federal requests to detain persons here illegally and already in jail puts are communities and law enforcement in danger. Stop the rhetoric and step up and lead, Gov. Walz.
