One day during the filming of "Chinatown" (1974), Roman Polanski was frustrated by a stray piece of hair that kept falling on Faye Dunaway's face and ruining the scene they were shooting. After a few failed attempts to tame it, Polanski walked up to Dunaway and yanked the offending piece of hair right out of her head. Dunaway, who ended up wearing a hat to film the scene, was livid and screamed a stream of obscenities before storming off. After that incident, Jack Nicholson nicknamed her "Dread"... "The Dreaded Dunaway". Here is what Dunaway said of working with Polanski: "We had difficult times, he and I, but he's a great film director, Roman the terror. #beonnnie 💜: I have a t-shirt with a suit pattern printed on it, and I also packed that giant pair of slippers along with me. In the end, turns out everyone literally wore a real suit, paired it with boxer shorts, and wear slippers. I was like, "Whoa, The theme is on point!" Some of the phis brought fake mustaches, so we all gathered up. Then they were asking me, "Wait, how did you even find these in time? Where did you get them?" So I told them, "Oh, it's just stuff I already had at home." And everyone was like... "Yeah, we’re surprised by the fact that you just casually have this kind of stuff at home. Denzel Washington’s epic monologue towards the end of Training Day was largely improvised on set. Director Antoine Fuqua was so blown away by his performance, he says he thinks he "forgot to yell cut”. He explains… “That’s Denzel. He was just in his zone. I mean, that was one of those moment...people talk about AI. Those are the moments where you go...it's a great tool. It's gonna be a great tool, I think...but the emotion, and the moment that an actor can bring - you can't predict that. That's something that's just inside of Denzel. And when that came out, I was just like - I hope I got it. I just turned to my operator - who was shaking- I looked over at the guy - I was like, “please tell me you got that.” Because that was the take. That was it. There was no other take - I mean, how do you tell an actor like that, that that wasn't good enough? …He walked over to me, and he just had this look in his eyes. I was like, “you good?” He said, “you good?” I said, “Yeah…” Some of that was in the script, but he flipped it the way he did it. "Putting cases on all you." He kind of added some things in there.
