It's funny when people claim to love Aerith (or even cosplay as her), but their tone changes the moment she starts showing what she truly wants and not acting the way they want her to act. Anyone referring to this whole sequence as "wrong" or "weird" is a clear example of poor media literacy. The game couldn't have made it clearer right before this sequence played out with Zack and Marlene's conversation. In reality, Marlene said it twice. Is it really this difficult to understand this story?

Apparently this mother and daughter made the last-minute decision to fly, mother got a seat in the middle of the plane daughter got a seat at the rear of the plane, as per usual when the engines shut down and the fasten seatbelt light goes off everyone stands up to put on garments, gather their belongings from the overhead compartments etc., Mom here decides she’s going to hold up the whole rear of the plane until everyone sits back down and lets her daughter pass so they can exit the plane together.

The most unbelievable thing just happened in my Tesla Robotaxi. There’s this dead end, which imo is the deadest dead end, where no Tesla has EVER been able to get out on FSD, without manual help. I ordered the Robotaxi from there just to test it, but this time there was a garbage truck in the way… and what happened next blew my mind. • Attempt #1: It backed up, paused, seemed unsure, then gave up and pulled forward again right back into the dead end. • Attempt #2: This time, it backed up, tried turning the wheel left to find an angle out, but again, couldn’t quite figure it out and went back to the dead end. • Attempt #3: Here’s where it got wild. As it backed up, a garbage truck suddenly pulled up, blocking part of the road. The Robotaxi slowed down, waited, observed the truck backing up for it, and learned from it. It then adjusted its trajectory, turned the wheel left, reversed, and then found its way out! What mind boggles me is that the AI learned in real-time. It seems like it took cues from its environment, analyzed the movement of the garbage truck, and then used that info to solve a problem that it failed twice before. This was real-world AI learning and adapting happening live! Absolutely mind-blowing.

Why did so many languages copy async/await from C#? Anders Hejlsberg(Anders Hejlsberg) - creator of TypeScript, C# & Turbo Pascal - on what they got right with the design: #1 - async/await was designed to solve a common problem in the event-loop model: "A lot of languages are built around cooperative multitasking in the sense that they have an event loop that sits and dispatches events. Then you handle the event and then you yield back to the event handler loop. And it all runs in a single thread cooperatively. The problem with that is if you then want to do some long running work: how do I stop in the middle of this piece of long running work and yield back to the event loop cooperatively? And then when my result is ready, I can come back and continue executing here." #2 - state machines are the solution, but hard to build: "Well, in order to do that in an inverted architecture like that, you have to build a state machine. State machines are notoriously hard for people to implement because you've got to move all of your state off of the stack into objects. And then you have this big case statement that envelopes your entire logic. It's a nightmare to figure out. But, the transformation from serially executing code into a state machine, its continuation-passing-style translation is actually one that you can do in a machine-based fashion." #3 - compilers are good at writing state machines: "You can have the compiler write the state machine if you introduce syntax that allows you to indicate where you want to yield. And that's what await is. Await is basically saying, I want to yield here, and I want to yield this promise, and then when the promise completes, I want you to come back here and continue executing. Then the compiler writes a state machine around it and it actually turns it into this big switch statement and moves all of the state that survives across the await into something that's heap allocated. So it can be brought back. And doing all of that work is something that compilers are great at. And so that was sort of the idea that we have this new style of programming where we're using promises or the equivalent of promises and the ability to yield and then we have callbacks. But trying to write your program in that style, that's also what JavaScript suffered from a lot. It's like all this callback style stuff. With Async and Await, you get the illusion that you're just writing normal sequential code and then the compiler does the painful transformation for you. That turns out to be really useful."

Kimi K2.7-Code is now available on AI/ML API! Moonshot's latest is built for long-horizon agentic coding that self-corrects instead of one-shotting. So we gave it a hard one. SpaceX is going public, a company built on one habit: fly, fail, fix, fly again. That loop carried Falcon to the droneship and Starship toward orbit. We wanted to see if a model could run that same loop on its own. We gave four Kimi agents a 2D flight-physics sim they can't modify and one goal: reach orbit and land the booster on a droneship. Flight 1 broke up at max-Q. Flight 2 cleared max-Q but staged too early and fell back short of orbit. Flight 3 made orbit, then missed the droneship and hit the water. Flight 4 fixed the landing math and put the booster on the ship. Four flights, each failure feeding the next fix. The interesting result isn't the rocket, it's the closed-loop debugging. This time of year and throughout June, babies are often found out alone in the day, and here's why. Hedgehogs are nocturnal, but babies are born diurnal, meaning they can be awake in the daytime and feed from mum while she sleeps, and mum can go out at night to find food, knowing her babies will be safely sleeping. Isn't that so clever? This is baby Figgy and she's just 3 weeks old. Her eyes and ears opened a week ago, she's now able to lap, and she has little nubs of teeth starting to erupt. Everything is new and exciting at this age, and while mum is asleep babies like Figgy sometimes sneak out, to look around. Nosing around on brand new wobbly legs, learning how to scratch the itch of new spines growing through, and exploring a world of scents, babies usually quickly wear themselves out and safely return home to the nest. But now and again there's one who is just a bit too adventurous for her own good, and strays too far from the nest and can't find her way back home. So if you ever spot a baby out on the lawn, crying - this sounds like a little bird cheeping - please quietly approach and without touching or speaking just observe her for a minute. If she has any obvious injury or has flies attracted to her, immediately take her indoors and make up a hot water bottle with hot tap water, cover with a fleece and lay her on it, with another fleece covering her, then urgently ring a rescue (NEVER a vet) for advice. They will talk you through what to do. If she appears fine, with no flies, go back indoors (or an average garden length away, if she can't be seen from indoors) and just watch her from there for 20 minutes. Don't take your eyes off her, and be ready to quickly go out if a bird or animal goes near her. In most cases her crying will wake mum who will come out and carry her home. If you know for sure where the nest is, wearing gloves gently pick her up and quickly put her back as close to the nest as you can without disturbing it. If mum doesn't come within 20 minutes, go out and stand by the baby while you phone a rescue (NEVER a vet) and ask for advice. They will talk you through what to do. NB. This footage was from a couple of years ago and baby Figgy grew into a beautiful adult and was released back to the wild, and is still doing well.🥰
