AfCFTA Must Serve the People, Not Corporations

I remember I was really excited about AfCFTA because, when I see how the French imposed barriers on Francophone countries with the CFA franc, I was anticipating a more integrated market and trading system among us. Can you imagine someone with the west African CFA franc can’t go to Central African countries like Cameroon 🇨🇲, Central African Republic 🇨🇫 and buy things directly with it without first exchanging it? And yet those countries use the same CFA franc like ours, it’s just that the colors are different, but it’s the same denomination. Why did the French do that ? To prevent us from trading among ourselves. Here we are 2025, AfCFTA is still not yet fully implemented. What a shame!
