This week I joined Cork City Councillor Noel O’Flynn in Cork City Centre to see what is happening on our main retail streets. We found 22 vape and phone shops across Patrick Street, Oliver Plunkett Street and the surrounding area. Several premises had no visible over-18 signage. In some cases, staff could not confirm the legal requirement that vaping products cannot be sold to under-18s. That is a serious concern. Cork deserves a vibrant and diverse city centre. Our principal shopping streets should not be dominated by one type of retail outlet.
