African refuge turned samurai is conceptually a brilliant idea for an AC game. The game will likely be bad, but the concept is great & fits right into what AC is about at its core. The underrepresented parts of history. Never forget what the foundation of AC history truly is:

The very first game establishes AC’s history is a type of alternate history. That the history we read about is written by rulers and oppressors, the animus shows us the truth. That in reality, “the world is a tapestry of many colours and patterns.”

The Assassins are about standing up for the downtrodden for those with voices who can’t be heard, working in the shadows of a part of history that won’t be heavily documented and sometimes won’t be at all. If you’re criticising this, you fundamentally don’t understand AC.

It’s not often I’ll go to bat for new AC games but the discourse around Shadows is ridiculous. Criticising the game for being “woke” is not critical thought it’s stupid & your brain is mush. I’m begging you to try engaging your brain & to be actually constructive with critique.

I haven’t seen the trailer or any information so I’m talking purely from a conceptual angle. I’m sure the idea will end up executed in a fairly clumsy manner, Ubisoft games just aren’t that great anymore but from a conceptual angle, this is thematically perfect, truly.

Well said. Alternate History IS Assassin's Creed

You know the views are out of pocket when you have James coming back like this and I agree with everything you said except for it being bad... A ground I hopefully won't ever have to agree on 😅

Oh I’m sure you’ll probably enjoy it, I hope you do! I meant bad subjectively by my standards.

I saw a comment where they said yasuke’s vague background was vague enough for it to fit in the AC universe and I immediately thought of Desmond and vidic talk in AC1. People should be talking more about the live service shit in the game than this.

I get all this.. But my Problem is that I think Ubisoft did not understand this and only uses a Black Samurai to represent some Agenda But we will see...

You're doing a hell of a lot of assuming with this statement and even if they are pushing an "agenda"... Good! We should have more representation like this, that doesn't automatically mean "bad story" that's not how the creative process works.
