After 50 years how did we manage to make refrigerators less useful?

If you make everything of high quality your customers will never need to buy from you again. You would go bankrupt unable to sustain your vast Empire of unneeded goods. Therefore all products became mass produced and replaceable. And you have become a slave to that weakness

This fridge will operate for 50 years because it was built before the scourge of planned obsolescence.
