Pine Martens Bounce Back: The #TwoMoorsPineMartenProject is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to #NationalLottery players, this project aims to restore healthy populations of pine martens to the South West of England. [2/4]

Devon Wildlife Trust, in partnership with @dartmoornpa, @ExmoorNP, @ForestryEngland, @nationaltrust, @SomersetWT and @WoodlandTrust will be leading this exciting reintroduction project, centred in Dartmoor and Exmoor. [4/4]

Alongside the animal’s return will be an ambitious programme of community activities which will engage thousands of people in exploring, learning about and caring for the region’s woodlands. [3/4]

It's such a sad thing that such a wonderful animal is smeared by farmers and their political representatives. Lies are spread that describe in gory detail how a Pine Martin will gleefully kill each and every lamb in a flock of 🐑 just for the sake of it. Anything that threatens the religious sanctity and dominance of the farming unions is demonized

Yet another translocation of #pinemartens to sub-optimal habitat. I guess its just the fate of #wildnature always to be given second best just to feed the "saviour complex" of the conservation industry

I still think that, after 150 years of none in the eco system, the local eco system, already under man-made pressures(!) will be decimated by the introductions. Why, after all of this time? It's not like, eg beavers for their "engineering" skills.

Haven't been to the UK for a long time, but now I want to go to Dartmoor. To bring an egg. Does this pen have a postal address? I will send eggs.
