If a Republican Governor is elected in Michigan in the future, the current weapons ban at the Michigan Capitol can easily be undone. To prevent that from happening, we must codify the existing weapons ban into law. That way, if the law is to be overturned, lawmakers will have to publicly stand by their vote. Visitors to our capitol and those of us who work there have every right to feel safe.
