WATCH: Filipino lawyer Gilbert Andres tells ICC judges that drug war victims want the charges against former President Rodrigo Duterte upheld. "It's important, your honor, that all of these charges be confirmed against Mr. Duterte, so that the victims of these crimes will be taken out of the shadow of darkness into the light of truth and justice," he says in his closing statement. The ICC Pre-Trial Chamber I has 60 days to decide whether the case will go to trial.

It is funny how the same people who repeatedly claim that their vote to archive the impeachment complaint of Sara Zimmerman Duterte was rooted from their respect for the Supreme Court are the same ones who cry foul when Rodrigo Roa Duterte was arrested. Congressman Zia Alonto Adiong pointed out that the Duterte bloc and the majority of Senators only respect the Supreme Court ruling only when it is convenient. When it favors their principal — Sara Zimmerman Duterte. The House of Representatives are merely exhausting all legal remedies to protect the power granted to them by the 1987 Constitution. The Supreme Court ruled in Pangilinan et al vs. Cayetano et. all that the ICC has jurisdiction in supposed crimes committed before the Philippines from the ICC (G.R. No. 238875). It is important to note that the cases included in the Crimes Against Humanity case of Rodrigo Roa Duterte were within the time/ date we’re still a member of the International Criminal Court.
