@prettypadmaja . Nehru's respect for Ambedkar was very low, to the extent that he (Nehru) called Ambedkar a Traitor .@INCIndia .@SupriyaShrinate .@kharge .@sardesairajdeep .@IndiaToday .@aroonpurie .@Jairam_Ramesh .@rssurjewala

@grok look at this tweet. @Sanju_Verma_ has accused Nehru saying : Nehru asked Dr Rajendra Prasad not to attend #Ambedkar's last rites,calling him a traitor. Can you confirm if this allegation is true? I can't simply believe this.

Listen to Salman Khurshid ji as he reads out CPP Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi ji's message. 👇 "The Constitution of India is more than a legal charter. It is the moral foundation of our democracy, built on Justice, Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity. It was shaped through the sacrifices and vision of the Indian National Congress. Even before Independence, the Congress party imagined a constitution by Indians, for Indians. From the Nehru Report 1928 to the demand for a Constituent Assembly in 1934. Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru laid the groundwork, and Dr B R Ambedkar, as Chairman of the Drafting Committee, gave form to these ideals. He warned that without social and economic justice, political democracy would be just a top dressing. The Congress recognised this and acted on it, expanding rights, strengthening institutions, and upholding dignity and inclusion. Today, the constitution is under siege. The BJP-RSS, which never fought for freedom or upheld equality, now uses its power to dismantle the very framework it long opposed. Their ideological forebears glorified Manusmriti, rejected the tricolour, and envisioned a Hindu Rashtra, where democracy is hollow and discrimination is the law. In power, they've eroded institutions, criminalised dissent, targeted minorities and betrayed Dalits, Adivasis, OBCs and the working poor. Now they seek to erase socialism and secularism, pillars of Ambedkar's vision of equal citizenship. This is not reform, but an ideological coup replacing our democratic republic with a theocratic corporate state serving the powerful few. India yearns for the inclusive, just and democratic nation envisaged by our freedom fighters and constitution makers. That is what the Congress party stands and fights for. We will oppose every attempt to undermine the constitution, in parliament, in courts, and on the streets. This is not just political, it is our ideological commitment to defend every Indian's dignity. I commend Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi and his team for reigniting this vital conversation. Our mission is clear - to reclaim the republic and protect the rights of each and every person."

The Constitution of India is the lifeline of our Democracy. As we observe and celebrate the 74th Constitution Day, we bow in utmost reverence to its makers — for they guaranteed the social, economic and political rights of every Indian. Today, the spirit of our Constitution, faces numerous challenges. The present regime is using every trick in its textbook to crush and curtail all freedoms enshrined in the Constitution. Dissent is being subjugated and criminalised, institutions are being pushed to the brink of becoming pawns in the grand game of imposing an authoritarian system, hate is being served under the garb of social changes. The systematic and strident attack on the Constitution by BJP-RSS is visible in the rampant misuse of every nut and bolt of the government machinery. As a nation state, we could soon reach a tipping point where social justice and harmony shall become a casualty and the rights of the weaker sections would be gradually seized. It is time to stand up against this politics of division and hate. The Indian National Congress is fighting this battle from the front. Shri Rahul Gandhi led the Bharat Jodo Yatra to spread the message of peace, unity in diversity, amity and compassion. The Yatra continues with him reaching out to more people, more states and more sections of the society. Every citizen should question the attack on our Constitution, its ethos and its values. Just like our freedom fighters fought the British, we are capable of fighting, without fear, and protecting our Democracy. Today is the day to take inspiration from those inspiring leaders. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Babasaheb Dr. B R Ambedkar, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Dr Rajendra Prasad, K M Munshi, Sarojini Naidu, Alladi Krishnaswamy Ayyar, Rajkumari Amrit Kaur and several eminent personalities should be remembered not only on this day, but everyday. For we are indebted to their vision and wisdom. We, the People of India shall prevail. Jai Hind 🇮🇳
