I made this YouTube video to fundraise – beg even – for anyone to contribute money for me to get a PC. I was just starting university in the Department of Computer Science, but I didn't have a PC. I was using a Tecno Y6 that was passed down from my older sister to my older brother to me (a generational phone😅). How was I supposed to survive the department? My dad was currently struggling with cancer; I couldn't ask for money. The only option I thought I had was making that video (which is now embarrassing😅). ----- Plot twist: - No one saw the video (it only had 2 views when I saw it on Saturday). - No one cared! I decided to take action and control over my life. During that same period of October: • I got my first Web3 gig as a community engager, getting paid 6000 Naira per month. • In December 2020, I got a major payout of $500 from a VC to engage in all the projects they invest in. → And right there, on that day, “Web3 jobs changed my life”. ~ I took out 160,000 Naira and bought a laptop.
