🔱 Dominic Canzone Long Post 🔱 When the Mariners acquired Canzone last month in exchange for Paul Sewald, most people had never really heard of him. He wasn’t a top prospect and he wasn’t lighting the world on fire. Here’s a quick recap on his numbers with Triple-A Reno this season: .354 AVG, .431 OBP, .634 SLG, 13.2 K% 12.8 BB%, .449 wOBA, 16 HR, 150 wRC+ Canzone never had a wRC+ lower than 107 at any stop in the minor leagues and for his entire minor league career, he had a .933 OPS with a wRC+ of 134. He can hit. Of course, minor league numbers ultimately mean next to nothing once you get to the major leagues. Arizona called him up in July and started playing nearly every day, mostly as a platoon bat. Here are his numbers as a Diamondback: .237 AVG, .293 OBP, .368 SLG, 19.5 K% 4.9 BB%, .290 wOBA, 1 HR, 80 wRC+ Not all that great, and that’s what most people saw when Seattle acquired him for their star reliever. Here were his expected stats: .283 AVG, .336 OBP, .476 SLG .353 xwOBA, 90.3 MPH Average Exit Velo That .353 xwOBA is better than Justin Turner, Josh Naylor, Francisco Lindor, Jake Burger, and many other players. When Canzone arrived to Seattle, he struggled in his first 20 plate appearances and his expected numbers weren’t much better either. His average exit velocity in this stretch was 85.2 MPH. His K% hit 20%, which Canzone had only had 2 lengthy stops in the minors where his K% was 20%. People were frustrated at the lack of production from Canzone (and Rojas). Ever since that slow stretch, in where he’s accrued 50 plate appearances, his stats: .283 AVG, .340 OBP, .478 SLG, 12.0 K% 8.0 BB%, .352 wOBA, 2 HR, 129 wRC+ These numbers are very similar to his expected numbers when he was with Arizona. Here’s the best part: his expected stats during this stretch are MUCH better. .329 AVG, .382 OBP, .598 SLG .418 xwOBA, 90.2 MPH Average Exit Velo That .418 xwOBA, if had over a full season, would rank 6th in all of baseball behind Aaron Judge, Ronald Acuna Jr., Corey Seager, Shohei Ohtani, and Yordan Alvarez. Obviously the samples on all of these stretches aren’t the biggest, but Canzone is a hitter. He’s hit everywhere he’s been and his underlying numbers have backed it up, outside of a short slump once he arrived to the Mariners. Many people didn’t give Canzone a chance when he first got here because of who we gave up to get him. People labeled him a “AAAA hitter” before seeing him. Time will tell what Canzone ends up becoming, but his future looks bright. Enjoy this Dominic Canzone moonshot.

Drew Faurot (FSU Baseball) was one of the more underrated players in the CCBL this summer. The Seminole will likely start up the middle next spring after slashing .263/.342/.414 in 28 games with a wood bat in Brewster. The switch-hitting middle infielder has a similar stance as a LHH and RHH and shows a high leg kick upon load. It's a violent hack through the zone with exceptional bat speed and was able to show decent pull-side pop from both sides with 6 2B & 3 HR this summer. Faurot was third among qualified SS in hits (26), OPS (.756) and second in HR (3) and SLG% (.414). He looked smooth defensively and showed the ability to play SS or 2B after splitting time at both spots on the Cape. Solid range with average speed and a fringe arm at SS/2B but can get the ball out of his glove quickly. He should stick at either position at the pro level. Pitch recognition could improve as he struggled at times with the slider and change, resulting in a 55% miss and 42% miss rate, respectively. He had a 30.3 K% on the Cape but has a career a 40.9 FB% in college. Would also like to see some more line drives via hard hit balls after having a below average 42.6 GB% while at school. His second Cape stint showed that improvement is coming. Faurot's hard work ethic stands out. He's always watching film, taking hacks, fielding grounders - looking to improve in all aspects of his game. He's going to be an early Day 2 draft prospect in '25 with projectable power and versatility both offensively and defensively.

Thought for today…. I would like to thank Alexander Isak for his behaviour and forcing to leave Newcastle. I would also like to thank Liverpool for the duplicitous way they unsettled him. Why FFS you may ask? Hear me out… 1. The bloke is not a team player as he showed last season with his performances at the start and end of last season and we only want fully committed players at our club. 2. At some point due to the corrupt PSR rules we were going to have to sell a big player to enable us to move to the next level. It might as well be one with the lack of character and morality that he has shown. 3. Isak and Liverpool have handed us a massive windfall that has the potential to transform the club over the next few seasons. Without this we would not be able to move forward as quickly and we would all be waiting for the axe to fall on another star player. That is less likely now. 4. We now, potentially, have the strongest squad in my living memory (with the possible exception of Keegan’s Entertainers but who knows they may surpass even them) 5. The new CEO and Sporting Director (both of whom are top class if reports are correct) will be walking into a club that is united from top to bottom and in a very strong financial position. A club that has qualified for the Champions League in two of the last 3 season and won its first domestic trophy in 70 years. A club that is clearly on the up. 6. PIF will hopefully have learned lessons from what happened this summer and even though it was a little late they acted in the last few weeks and made sure the end to they transfer window could be deemed a big success despite the circumstances (next up get the CEO and Sporting Director in and announce a new stadium) 7. Eddie Howe, Andy Howe, Jamie Reuben and Steve Nickson have cemented their reputations. In particular Eddie’s handling of the whole Isak affair has been a masterclass in diplomacy, hard work, and man management - we truly have an absolute gem and a gentleman leading the team. 8. In summary we have a club that is united from top to bottom, in a healthy financial position, a much stronger squad with players committed to the club, new top class senior personnel to be added very shortly, a second Champions League season to look forward to and hopefully more silverware. Thanks Isak (you are still a rat) and Liverpool (your £135m will move us to the next level head of time) HWTL 🖤🤍🖤🤍

In the middle of baseball season, here are some Major League Major Facts: -Dennis Haysbert actually hit multiple home runs on camera while filming. In the final game when he hit his final home run, he was so excited he forgot to drop the bat and ran the bases with it despite that not being in the script. -For many of the wide crowd scenes of the climactic playoff game, there were over 20,000 extras in the stands. When the team first ran onto the field with the crowd roaring, Haysbert admitted to being emotionally overwhelmed by the experience. Former Major Leaguer and technical advisor Steve Yeager noticed Haysbert's reaction and said to him, "That's what it's like 162 times a year." -In the scene where Jake invades Lynn's party, one of the guests asks how much Jake makes in the Majors. He replies, "I make the league minimum." At the time (1989) the MLB salary minimum was $68,000. Average household income in 1990 was roughly $30,000. -The opponent slugger known as Yankees' home run threat Haywood was played by former pitcher of the Milwaukee Brewers, Peter Vuckovich. Vuckovich never hit a single home run in his entire 11-year major league career. In fact, during 8 of those 11 years he never made a single plate appearance since he was pitching in the American League, which uses a designated hitter to bat for the pitcher. -At the start of the "pennant race" montage, Willie Hayes is shown with 16 pairs of gloves nailed on his bedroom wall, indicating that he had stolen 16 bases in the first 101 games. At the end of the montage, he has at least 78 pairs on the wall, having stolen 62 additional bases in fewer than 60 games. -Haywood's line of "How's your wife and my kids?" was completely improvised by Pete Vuckovich. Ward couldn't think of a good insult that Haywood could say to Taylor, and Vuckovich, assured Ward that he could come up with something on the spot, which was what was caught on camera. -Chelcie Ross (Eddie Harris) played baseball in high school. He was a three-sport star, also playing football and basketball. -Wesley Snipes was not very skilled at baseball in real life, never having played much before. Ward said Snipes was so awful there were no scenes of hom throwing. -The vehicle that Willie Mays Hayes drives to opening day of spring training is a customized VW Beetle with a Rolls Royce grill, replacement trunk and hood ornament. The "Elegant Beetle" kit, as one was called, was popular in the mid-70s to the mid-80s until Rolls Royce sued a company responsible for one of the conversion kits. -Charlie Sheen admitted to Sports Illustrated that he took steroids to prepare for his role. He believed the steroids he took caused him to increase his fastball to 85 MPH. -Former Major-League catcher Steve Yeager served as a coach for the actors in training for the movie, also serving as a stunt double for Tom Berenger in many scenes when Jake Taylor would make a throw from home plate or be in a home plate collision, as well as play third-base coach Temple. -While not particularly specified, many of the players in the movie seem to be based on, or inspired by, former Major League stars. Pedro Cerrano, according to author/director David S. Ward, is based on Orlando Cepeda and Wade Boggs, who would superstitiously eat chicken before every game. Willie Mays Hays is based on Rickey Henderson. Ryne Duren was the inspiration for the character Ricky "Wild Thing" Vaughn, according to Ward. Eddie Harris appears to be inspired by Gaylord Perry, who was well known for using outside substances to enhance his pitches. Jake Taylor may be inspired by Carlton Fisk, a catcher who had a long career with the Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox. Lou Brown mentions early on that Taylor was an All-Star in Boston.

C Cole Messina (@GamecockBasebll) is going to be a fun follow this spring. After playing sparingly as a true Freshman in 2022, Messina had a strong summer in the Northwoods League and hit .294/.410/.483 with 10 2B, 5 HR, and 40 RBIs. Proceeded to have a stellar Sophomore campaign, hitting .307/.428/.615 with 18 2B, 17 HR, and 65 RBIs in 62 games. Was a First Team All-SEC selection and a Third Team All-American. Thick, ultra-physical build at 6' and 230-lbs. Stands nearly upright in the box with a slightly open front side. Somewhat high handset, starts with the head of his bat pointed almost straight down behind his back shoulder. Small stride, gets his swing going with a bit of a barrel tip and without much of a load. Bat speed is plus. Messina has a pull-oriented approach and an above average feel for the barrel. Bat-to-ball skills are advanced, and in '23 he sported an overall IZ contact rate of 90% (90% against FB, 92% against SL). Sound pitch recognition skills and doesn't really expand the zone. Would put a 55 on the hit tool. His natural strength and physicality allows him to generate high-quality impact on a regular basis. Max EV in '23 was 108. Overall raw power is a 55, but a 60 to the pull side. There are some defensive question marks, but Messina is a sneaky athlete behind the dish. Moves well laterally. However, his overall catching skillset will need to become more polished. Even with the murkiness surrounding his eventual defensive home, Messina's bat will likely be enough to warrant a 3rd-5th round selection this July. (📽️: @GamecockBasebll)

1B Tanner Thach (UNCW Baseball) is another college bat to keep close tabs on this season. Thach was drafted by the Giants in the 18th round of the 2022 draft but decided to honor his commitment to the Seahawks. Thach made a significant impact in his first year on campus and posted a .290/.356/.544 slash line with 11 2B, 15 HR—a UNCW single-season freshman record—and 68 RBIs. He outdid himself in 2024 and hit .324/.406/.700 with 11 2B, a UNCW single-season record 27 HR and 75 RBIs in 61 games. Thach’s production didn’t end there, though, as he was named a Cape League all-star, hitting .275/.367/.493 with 6 doubles, 8 HR and 25 RBIs. Thach has a strong, physical build at 6’4” and 220-lbs. He has a crouched stance in the box with an open front side and a medium-high handset. It’s a bit of a noisy load in which he drops and drifts his hands, but Thach does possess plenty of bat speed. He has a steep, uphill swing path, and it’s a violent operation that is geared towards getting the ball up in the air and doing damage. However, it can get long at times. Thach’s carrying tool is undoubtedly his immense power. He has established a now-lengthy track record of power production with both metal and wood, and he has zero issue tapping into it on a game-to-game basis. Thach has home run power to all fields, though his highest quality of contact comes to the pull side. He gets the ball up in the air on a consistent basis, and when he catches the baseball on the sweet spot, it flies. Thach posted maximum exit velocities during the spring and summer of 113.5 mph and 103.1 mph, respectively. At the start of the summer, he would sometimes unnecessarily sell out to get to his power which caused him to top-spin line drives to the pull side, but as the season progressed he was able to break that habit. Thach has plus in-game power to all fields. The biggest key going forward for Thach is for him to continue to make enough contact to get to his power on a regular basis. His bat-to-ball skills are fringy, though he did post a 90% in-zone contact rate against all fastballs. Like a lot of hitters, the root of Thach’s contact struggles are secondary offerings. He’ll have difficulty at times picking up spin out of the hand which leads to both miss and chase. Thach will also tend to whiff and chase against heaters that are either elevated or on the outer-half of the plate. However, he does handle velocity well and last season he hit .533/.588/1.033 against all fastballs 92+. While Thach feasts on righthanded pitching, he hit just .246/.321/.551 last season against lefties. Thach’s power is tremendous, but he’ll need to add a coat or two of polish to his hit-ability as he transitions into professional baseball. First base isn’t the flashiest defensive profile, but Thach moves well around the bag and is a strong athlete at the position. He’s not afraid to range into the four-hole and he is a reassuring anchor on the right side of the infield. Thach has an advanced baseball sense, a trait that shines on a game-to-game basis. While he won’t pitch professionally, expect Thach to log some innings this spring for UNCW. His fastball tops out in the low 90s and flashes some hop in the top of the zone, but he’ll also mix in a mid-70s curveball and a low-80s changeup. The cherry on top with Thach is his makeup, both on and off the field. It’s impossible to stick a grade on it because it’s a 90 on the 20-80 scale. Would have him as a 2nd-early 3rd round type this July. (🎥: UNCW Baseball, Cotuit Kettleers)

From sitting 80 T83 with a torn UCL to 87-90 and pain-free in 1.5 years, a coach's post from @jjasonfosterr🔥 I started working with Max Moore in the summer of ‘22. At the time, he was a HS senior topping out at 83 with consistent elbow issues. In May of his junior year, he partially tore his UCL and was told by doctors it would heal with rest. After going through a shutdown and rehab phase on his own, we were able to run it up to 86 his senior year, although the elbow was a constant issue. He went back to a different doctor, found out his UCL was still torn, and decided to get full TJ in March of ‘23. During the rehab process, Max made significant progress both physically and mentally. His body weight went from 170 to 190 with the following increases in the weight room: DB Bench 5RM: 60 —> 85 Deadlift 1RM: 295 —> 375 DB Row 8RM: 65 —> 100 Max also went through months of what I like to call “the velo yips,” something plenty of guys coming off injury experience. It didn’t matter if his prescribed throwing intensity was 50% or 100%, it all looked like 50%. It felt like max effort to him but there was clearly a mental block there. Why does this happen? Plenty of reasons - internal pressure, trauma associated with the pain/injury, thousands of social media experts pushing their agendas all day, watching YouTube videos all hours of the night trying to figure out “what’s wrong with me,” but that’s a post for another day. After countless conversations with Max and experimentation within his throwing schedule, we finally decided it was time to get back to playing baseball. Stop worrying about hitting certain metrics in the weight room, stop worrying about rehabbing a healthy arm, and stop trying to “figure out” a made-up problem (yips aren’t real 🤷‍♂️). Go pitch and we’ll see what happens. Max proceeded to hit 89 multiple times in his first outing back, followed by multiple 90s the week after. The best part is seeing how his teammates reacted, knowing how tough this dude is and how much he’s had to push through to get to this point. Foot on the gas, only up from here 🚀 -Jason

$AMD $620/share is too conservative for 2026 🧵 Some quick facts before I dive into this super long thread: $META allocated 42% GPUs to $AMD and 58% to $NVDA OpenAI allocated 6GW(38%) to $AMD and 10GW to $NVDA My $620 PT below by end of 2026 was only for 10-15% market share. I believe $AMD is going to have much much higher market share than I projected. The AI accelerator market is exploding, projected to reach $500 billion by 2028(is now heading $1Tril), driven by insatiable demand for training and inference compute in large language models (LLMs), recommendation systems, and autonomous systems. Nvidia ($NVDA) has long held a stranglehold, commanding over 90% market share through its CUDA ecosystem and superior rack-scale solutions. However, AMD is mounting a formidable challenge, leveraging cost advantages, open-source software momentum, and hyperscaler partnerships to erode Nvidia's moat. Recent deals—such as Meta's ($META) allocation of 42% of its GPU capacity to AMD and OpenAI's commitment to 6GW of AMD compute (versus 10GW for Nvidia)—signal a tipping point. At the forefront is AMD's Instinct MI450 series, a next-generation AI GPU slated for H2 2026 launch, which promises "no-excuses" leadership in training, inference, and distributed workloads. This analysis dissects how AMD will capture more market share and why hyperscalers like $Meta , xAI , Oracle , and others are poised to become voracious buyers of the MI450. AMD's AI GPU revenue has surged from negligible levels in 2022 to an estimated $4-5 billion in 2025, capturing ~6% of the data center GPU market. This growth stems from the Instinct MI300X, which offers 141GB of HBM3 memory and competitive FP8/FP16 performance at 20-30% lower cost than Nvidia's H100. Hyperscalers, facing NVIDIA 's overcharging, have turned to AMD for diversification. Meta, for instance, plans 600,000 H100-equivalent GPUs by end-2024, with ~42% (or 250,000+ units) sourced from AMD's MI300 series for inference tasks like image editing and AI assistants. Similarly, OpenAI's recent multi-year deal commits to 6GW of AMD compute—equivalent to ~300,000-400,000 MI450 GPUs—starting with 1GW in 2026, explicitly to counterbalance its 10GW Nvidia allocation. These aren't one-offs. Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) have integrated MI300X for AI workloads, with Oracle deploying 30,000 MI355X units in zettascale clusters. xAI, Elon Musk Musk's AI venture, ran 30% of Grok-1's production traffic on MI300X GPUs and has confirmed ongoing purchases. Collectively, these partners represent over $400 billion in projected AI infrastructure spend through 2028, with AMD targeting up to 40% market share. For those that subscribed, I wrote a specific thread on how AMD "secret weapon" is going to change the game in 2026 with an improved designs on all its products, yes AMD has patent on it. Software is the linchpin. AMD's ROCm platform, once derided as "half-baked," now supports day-zero integration for Llama-4, DeepSeek V3, and GPT-OSS models—closing the CUDA gap. Benchmarks show MI355X (MI450 precursor) outperforming Nvidia's B200 in inference by 1.5-2x on memory-bound tasks, at 25-35% lower TCO. For training, MI450's rack-scale IF128 configuration (128 GPUs, 1.4 PB/s intra-rack bandwidth) rivals Nvidia's VR200 NVL144, enabling clusters like xAI's Colossus (scaling to 1M GPUs). My below thread projected Etimated conservative FY 25 revenue: $34-$36B Estimated conservative FY 26 revenue: $55B-$62B Below is why $AMD is revenue is going to be much higher after OpenAI deal. 1. OpenAI 1GW in 2026. With high demand for MI355X at $30,000k+ per unit, with MI450 is likely to be sold in the $45k-$55k. We can safely calcuate 1GW would require roughly 400,000 MI450 GPUs. or Roughly ~$20B revenue in 2026 alone from OpenAI. That would mean $AMD would hit $56B just from one partnership(OpenAI) in 2026 2. $META, the biggest spender on AI Infrastructure right now, Daddy Zuckerberg bought 250,000+ MI300, and is buying MI355X for recommendation engines and Llama training. It is very unlikely for Daddy Zuck to slow down AMD Chips, due to its Inference superiority to NVDA Chips. Most likely we will see at least 300,000-400,000 MI355X ordered from now toward end of H1 2025. And another 300,000-500,000 MI450 by H2 2025. Or ~$20B from just Meta in H2 alone, excluded H1. 3. xAI : Musk confirmed "AMD GPUs work very well" for Grok's small/medium models, with 30% of Grok-1 on MI300X. xAI's Colossus (200K+ GPUs, targeting 1M) and Oracle partnership (via OCI's MI355X cluster) position it for MI450 trials in H1 2026. With $6B funding and Grok integration into Oracle services, xAI could allocate 10-20% ($10B-$15B) to MI450 for distributed inference. We haven't heard the detail from Daddy Elon Musk yet, but most likely not going to be spending less than OpenAI or Sam Altman 4. Oracle ($ORCL): A multi-billion-dollar MI355X deal powers OCI's AI superclusters, with $500B+ remaining performance obligations. Larry Ellison's zettascale ambitions and xAI/OpenAI integrations make Oracle a MI450 anchor tenant—projected 50-100k units ($15B+ spend) for enterprise AI platforms. $ORCL is likely to spend more on the new "secret weapon" due to its capability in AI inference and cost advantage for $500B backlog. 5. Others ( Microsoft , Amazon , Saudi+other countries): Microsoft (Azure MI300X for training) and Amazon ($148B 15-year spend) test MI450 via Stargate ($500B with Oracle/SoftBank). Emerging buyers like G42 (5GW UAE campus), Crusoe, and Hot Aisle add 5-10GW demand. These potentially would add $15B-$30B in 2026 alone. We also need to factor in $TSM supply constraint( $NVDA is TSMC favorite), so $AMD market cap/growth is being tamed by TSMC. So what are you saying Mike, well $AMD 2026 revenue could hit $90-$100B by end of 2026 or nearly 185% growth YoYo. So what does that mean for valuation? I have no idea how Mr. Market gonna value AMD in 2026 with 3 digits growth. My Conservative $620 was my best projection until today with OpenAI partnership. I'm telling you as one of the biggest AMD bull, that I will leave it to "smart money" and other investors to do the price discovery while I'm chilling and writing DDs daily. Lastly, AMD's MI450 isn't hype—it's a calibrated strike at Nvidia's vulnerabilities, amplified by hyperscaler bets like Meta's 42% allocation and OpenAI's 6GW lifeline. By prioritizing inference efficiency, rack-scale innovation, and open ecosystems, AMD will siphon 10-15% share in 2026, scaling to 20%+ as TCO trumps CUDA loyalty. Meta, xAI, Oracle et al. aren't passive; they're active co-designers, betting billions on MI450 to fuel AGI pursuits without Nvidia's premium.
