After saying he wants "severe limits on population growth" both Pierre Poilievre's office and CPC MPs weren't keen to explain what the Conservative shift of language on immigration actually means. Here's my story on Poilievre and new poor polling numbers for the CPC #cdnpoli

I'm the shadow minister and I scrummed on this today on qp ins. You didn't include that in this smear piece. You also didn't even bother to reach out to me. Do better. So I'll do your job for you here. This week the govt repeatedly failed to say how many people who are in Canada with expired visas, deportation orders, etc they plan to enable to leave this year. How are they setting new levels if they can't tell MPs how many people who supposed leave actually will? In the same vein, how are we supposed to scrutinize levels when they won't provide information on whether they have attempted to synch levels with housing stock, healthcare providers, and jobs forecasts? We are in a jobs, healthcare and housing crisis. It is abundantly clear that immigration levels must be massively curtailed. By how much - the Liberals must provide the above information to the public and make the case for levels. The game of seemingly randomly set massive increases in immigration when there's a clear lack of economic and social capacity to support the same has to end. Ps. MPs going about their business in the house that you showed in your piece aren't required to respond to randomly bellowed questions. Cc. @globalnews @MercedesGlobal -30-

Not sure you get to invent a "shift of language." They have been fairly consistent on the numbers needing to come down, including during the campaign. Disastrous job numbers and more of the same on TFW/diploma mill student explosion only exacerbate the urgency. Plenty of “experts” are using the same language at present. And opposition parties don’t get honeymoon phases.

It means that Pierre Poilievre is begging for a seat in rural Alberta and will say anything to please the base. Pipelines, immigration & guns.

He's toast. He can't grow. He can't change. He hasn't evolved from his first day in Parliament and probably not since University debate club. He's out of ideas. All the stuff he said sounds exactly like IQ47 It's his version of "they're not sending their best".

Does anyone in government know how many people have entered Canada over the last 10 years?

New flash - opposition parties typically don't get a "Honeymoon" period.. Give this Carney team 6 months, if they don't get their act together and we start to see a severe recession the polls can easily reverse back in Pierre's favor.
