We worked in good faith for two years to build rugby in Himachal Pradesh. We wanted people who actually wanted to promote this game. We had a meeting with actor Rahul Bose in Delhi, and he motivated us to promote Rugby in Himachal Pradesh. The Indian Rugby Football Union (IRFU) appointed me as the in-charge, and I was responsible for the expansion of this game here. After a year, we kept asking them to get our body registered. We formed four district units, Shimla, Kullu, Sirmaur, and Solan and trained teams. Then we got to know that the elections of the IRFU will take place now. We got to know that actor Rahul Bose will contest the election from Himachal Pradesh. This was quite shocking for us. He had fought his previous election from Maharashtra, and his contest from Himachal was very confusing for us. When we asked him, he denied this... Later, we got to know that in October, a new body was formed... We later got to know that actor Rahul Bose obtained a domicile certificate, which claimed he had been a resident of Kasauli for 16 years. Because of this domicile certificate, he was eligible for the election of the President of Rugby India. This meant that he wanted to contest from Himachal Pradesh and not Maharashtra. A new body was formed overnight, and all our efforts were wasted... We went to the High Court and filed a writ petition. We wanted an investigation into this domicile certificate and why he is contesting from Himachal Pradesh instead of Maharashtra. The Court has to decide what is right and wrong. Our only demand is justice for the youth of Himachal. An investigation should be done as to how he got a domicile certificate so quickly..."
