Common problem of new platforms. Just like Angry Birds was the first ever game to really exploit the multitouch capabilities of modern smart phones, we need to go beyond our current model of game control and build games truly native to "spatial computing"

Agree that controllers seem optimal for games. But this demonstration shows the user holding their hands at eye level, which does require significantly more effort than necessary for hand tracking input.

Said no one ever. Including Apple. For gaming they support controllers. They never claimed you can play phone/iPad games with your hands and eyes...

For most of these games, the built-in game controller support is the real intended way to play them.

I’m actually kind of optimistic to see each genre reimagined with hand controls. Like maybe it’s fine to have a more slow version of an FPS shooter or sword fighting using your hands. Also curious if locomotion sickness could be solved by not being fully in VR but sort of standing in front of a curved portal screen that looks into the game with lots of ground front in your field of view. Not sure how locomotion with hands would look, maybe gestures and point to teleport even works well enough. Or is there a gorilla tag of hand controls? But this video ain’t it.
