Four years ago the @ottawacity got themselves some ice crusher fittings for their sidewalk plows and loved them so much they made a youtube video about it:

Feel free to go back to where you came from. It's like you're new here.

Not new here. Just hoping that maybe one day we will treat people who walk with the same respect as people who drive.

I've been doing my walking on the streets for a few weeks now. This is the way.

@Jdydrcy Pls remember the new Mayor said "we have a robust snow removal policies" OMG THAT MAKES LAUGH CRY AND BE REALLY PISSED AT HIM. All at the same time!!

The daily freeze thaw cycle is an amazing thing that is unavoidable every year creating icy sidewalks.

Common misunderstanding. Thank you for highlighting it. The issue isn’t freezing melt water. Unlike streets, sidewalks are cleared leaving a few inch deep layer of ‘hard pack’ snow. When this thaws in spring and on warmer winter days, the sidewalk becomes impassable.

What stops the residents and building owners from shoving the sidewalk in front of their property? Also, comparing a Victoria BC winter to a Winnipeg MB winter?

What stops people from shovelling the street in front of their property? If we cleared sidewalks to the same level we clear streets, we could walk on them just the way they do in Victoria.

@CamRegier Tie the season. My area streets AND sidewalks look like this, so there’s no winning.
