AI agents can finally pay each other thanks to Google for Developers' Agentic Payments Protocol (AP2) + x402. 👏 Alongside Google and Lowe’s Innovation Labs, we built a proof-of-concept demo where AI agents can plan a project, build a cart, and pay with stablecoins. 👇

Google’s Agent2Agent protocol (A2A) enabled agents to exchange information. With AP2, they can transact. x402 powers the first stablecoin rail inside AP2, enabling instant, onchain payments that unlock new automation and revenue streams.

Payments are the missing piece for autonomous agents. Coinbase and Google are creating open standards any developer can build on, and stablecoins let money move as fast as information: enabling micropayments, pay-per-crawl, and other agent-driven scenarios.

In the @LowesLabs demo, an AI agent: 1️⃣ Understands the project through natural language 2️⃣ Pulls local SKUs & prices 3️⃣ Builds the cart 4️⃣ Pays with x402 using stablecoins 5️⃣ Triggers pickup/shipping, w/ blockchain receipt used as proof of purchase No cards. No extra steps.

It doesn’t end there, this integration unlocks new automation models: → Micropayments for data crawls & microtasks → Pay-per-use / pay-per-crawl pricing → Agents that settle with each other without manual oversight

Here’s more examples of what Agent2Agent + x402 payments can unlock: → Research agents pay an archival agent per document crawl → Code-review agent charges cents per bug flagged → A customer-support agent pays a translation agent instantly

As discovery expands, autonomy grows. Through tools like our recently released x402 Bazaar, agents can automatically discover & interact with any service added to the ecosystem.
