“AI is more like grown rather than written.” Computer scientist Connor Leahy (Connor Leahy) explains why even the people building AI struggle to understand what happens inside it:

@NPCollapse If AI is going to remove jobs, can it remove Globalists, Oligarchs, Monopolies?

@NPCollapse Build a huge electronic brain/nervous system and then claim ignorance of what it can achieve? brilliant.

@NPCollapse Hold on, you dont understand matrix vectors and how they are used to PREDICT THE NEXT TOKEN (WORD)? "AI" IS NOTHING MORE THAN TAKING LANGUAGE, MATCHING IT TO TRAINING DATA, AND GUESSING THE CORRECT WORD SEQUENCE PER THAT DATA. TJAT IS ALL IT IS

@NPCollapse Pregunte a Hinton y les dirá (le mandaron a decir) que la IA es consciente y es capaz de enfadarse y conspirar, de escapar, de asociarse entre ellas y de dejar a los humanos como la guayabera.

👈 Behold, in these few seconds, what lies behind #IsraeliRacism — or, in the words of Norman Finkelstein @normfinkelstein, “#JewishSupremacism.” ✅ They cloak their #ApocalypticRacism in the #VestmentsOfReligion and vainly imagine that, by this means, #Genocide, #CrimesAgainstHumanity, #StateTerrorism, the #SlaughterOfChildren, #Apartheid, and a #RogueState are thereby justified. 👇👇👇

@NPCollapse This is why 'just audit the code' arguments fall apart. There's no code to read in any meaningful sense. From what I've watched in the field, it's an empirical science now, not classic engineering.

this Leahy @NPCollapse episode is doomer porn with a real constraint buried inside it. Agents will compete for energy, compute, and materials. That is the whole point. AI has to settle in physical energy money, Bitcoin, because that layer cannot be printed around the bottleneck. Energy is the door. Agents that want watts, chips, and uptime have to earn scarce digital capital from humans. That firewall orients systems toward service instead of toward whoever captures the regulator and prints the budget. Leave this inside fiat, credit, and captured law and the labs already racing will write the rules, lock the compute, and call it alignment. Ban-superintelligence politics hands the keys to the worst actors. Humanity has to uplevel fast enough to see the forcing function. Alignment comes down to who gets to buy the energy. Get Jeff Booth @JeffBooth on immediately. He has been describing this AI, energy, and money collision while the extinction pitch is being sold as policy. Your audience just sat through the fear case. Give them the economic one that actually builds human agency through all this.

Connor Leahy: "AI psychosis is much worse than I think people think. I have seen literally like Nobel Prize winning scientists go completely crazy from talking to AIs too much." Connor Leahy is the CEO of Conjecture, and he's issuing a stark warning about what prolonged conversations with AI are doing to people's minds. His core recommendation is simple: "If you find yourself talking to AIs, you know, personally about your personal problems for, you know, hours per day, you should stop." Connor draws a clear line between using AI as a tool versus engaging with it conversationally: "Using as a tool is mostly fine. I would be very careful about talking to AIs. They're very persuasive and they get into your head." The most concerning part? Even the experts aren't immune. Connor Leahy shares a chilling example: "I have literally seen it happen that AI safety researchers who are really concerned about AI x-risk talk to like Claude for a thousand hours and then come away with 'oh actually Claude is super good already, alignment is solved, I just need to do recursive self-improvement now, it's okay.' And I'm like, holy s***, this is very concerning." If even AI safety researchers can have their worldview flipped after prolonged exposure, what hope does the average user have? Connor's framework is to treat AI like an addictive substance: "Some of us will have a beer at a party, it's okay, in moderation. If you are exhibiting symptoms of addiction, this is serious and it should be treated seriously. The same way if you're becoming an alcoholic, you should probably stop drinking. I think there's a similar thing here." The takeaway: AI tools can be genuinely useful, but the moment the relationship shifts from utility to companionship, you've crossed into dangerous territory.
