And not because it saves credits. 480p → Topaz upscale to 4K gives you something 720p and 1080p can't: the upscaler has to reconstruct detail, and it outputs images that are softer at the edges. Which means with 480p there's even less clinical, digital sharpness. Native 1080p out of a video model looks like a render for this reason.
