“AI will have two phases.” Bill Gates, Microsoft co-founder, says the next 20 years could be a turbulent transition before AI and humanoid robots unlock an era of abundance. The shift could reshape work, scarcity and even how humans find meaning.

We’re already in an era of abundance, but the assholes at the top forgot how to share.

An era of abundance. This is some religous shit your’re all having us believe in. Sounds a lot like the communist promise about the classless paradise that will follow after the dictatorship of the proletariat.

There's not going to be an 'era of abundance'. The AI Santa Clause is no more credible than any other kind. Kids aren't generally this gullible. He should be heckled so badly over that kind of nonsense that he'd be afraid to say it out loud.

"That's for the younger generation to figure out" No. Just no. Even though that comment was in the context of finding meaning in a post-scarcity society. It is undeniably irresponsible. I'm sick of kicking the can down the road. Help me deal with the problem of now and then.

Why, oh why, are we giving two grand fucks what this syphilitic, has been has to say. He is just grifting to claw back some relevance after his romp on Epstein island was exposed to the world.

Why do we need these old people to meddle with our future. They made it they had their time couldn’t they go somewhere and enjoy their money. Bill Gates likes to always sound the alarm.

Let's listen to the guy who missed the Internet and mobile at Microsoft. Why do people ask Bill Gates' opinion on every topic in the world? He's great at software only.

Thanks Bill, you ruined the world. How do "smart" people not understand acceleration of "abundance" means everything else runs out faster. That must be why he wants to reduce the population.

Surviving that transition period is the part everyone glosses over

Absolutely wild that anyone believes humanity will still be here in 20 years or maybe even 2 years ... especially if reports are correct that true RSI has been achieved. Btw, I enjoy your interviews. You are a very skilled and professional host/interviewer.

The interesting part may be the transition itself, not just the destination. If AI and robotics reshape how work gets done, the harder questions are about how institutions, skills, incentives, and human identity adapt along the way. Technological abundance doesn't automatically translate into social abundance.

Two phases is the honest version. A messy stretch where work moves, then cheaper goods if the robots actually show up. Abundance is a maybe. The turbulence is already here.

This is why we shouldn't slow down. Who wants to spend the next 20 years miserable when we can have abundance as soon as possible?

Why are people posting so much from a guy that has near zero experience in the field and zero understanding of social economics. Did Covid not explain all we needed to know about Mr Gates?

I think in the short term it will be used by companies to sack lower paid workers to increase profits. Then in the long term it will destroy economies because a lot of poor people will be on welfare and governments can't afford to pay hundreds of thousands of people to live.
