AIR (2023) was released 3 years ago. Matt Damon agreed to play Sonny Vaccaro only if Ben Affleck directed the film. Affleck then made a bold call to keep Michael Jordan mostly off-screen, which gave the story its unique perspective.

Matt Damon says Michael Jordan picked Viola Davis to play his mother in Air (2023) before Ben Affleck could even finish the question “Ben went down to Florida to talk to Michael Jordan before we decided to do the movie because we wanted his blessing. If he came out and said, ‘They shouldn’t have done it,’ we were like, ‘What?’” “Ben asked about his mother, and Jordan said, ‘My mom runs.’ Ben started asking if there was an actress he wanted, and before he could finish the sentence, Michael goes, ‘Viola Davis’” “Ben called me and said, ‘Great news. Jordan is okay with us doing this. The tricky part is we have to get Viola Davis or we can’t do the movie’”

Matt Damon says Michael Jordan didn’t allow his mom to feature in the ‘Air’ movie because she runs most of his businesses and suggested Viola Davis plays that role. Matt Damon: “Ben asked about Michael’s parents, and Jordan said, ‘My mom runs shit.’ Ben realized she needed a much bigger role. Then he asked if there was an actress Michael had in mind. Before he could finish the question, Jordan said: ‘Viola Davis.’”

“We are told by leaders that we are the future. But when it comes to the ongoing pandemic, our present is being stolen right in front of our eyes.” Incredible speech by Violet Affleck who warned about COVID & Long Covid, & advocated for masks & clean air at the UN today!

“I’m sick of Matt Damon & Ben Affleck working together” said literally no one ever in the history of human civilization. I loved their ‘26 release The Rip. I loved The Last Duel & Air. I especially love Good Will Hunting. Give me more of these two & give it to me now, damn it.
