✈️Air India Flight AI2379 from Phuket to Delhi encountered severe turbulence on Tuesday after the aircraft experienced a sudden 300-foot loss of altitude during cruise. ⚠️ The Airbus A320neo was carrying 137 passengers and eight crew members when the unexpected altitude deviation occurred before the flight continued safely to its destination. 🏥 A total of 17 people were injured—13 passengers and four cabin crew members—and were taken to hospital in Delhi for medical evaluation after landing. 🩺 Air India said medical teams attended to everyone immediately, with five passengers discharged by 6:50 p.m. IST on August 4, while the remaining injured continued to receive treatment and care. 🛬 Despite the turbulence, Flight AI2379 landed safely at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport at 11:07 a.m. IST, with no further operational issues reported. 🔎 The incident highlights the risks posed by unexpected in-flight turbulence, reinforcing the importance of keeping seat belts fastened whenever seated, even when the seat belt sign is switched off. #flight #aviation

Russians have been detained in Baku and are set to be sent to Dubai. They are opposed to this Over 300 Russians, whose flights from Moscow to Dubai were disrupted amid the U.S. and Israel's attacks on Iran, are demanding to be returned to Russia. Passengers of Flydubai flights FZ 970 and FZ 968, which departed from Vnukovo on February 28, were landed in Baku after the start of the military operation against Iran. The passengers were accommodated at the Qafqaz Baku City hotel, where they spent three days without any clarification from the airline. They have now been informed about the upcoming flight to Dubai, but some of them refuse to fly, fearing the situation in the region, and are demanding to be returned to Russia. They remain in the hotel lobby, refusing to leave the premises.

Snow clearing operations continue on the airfield after 46cm of snow fell at Toronto Pearson. Air traffic management initiatives remain in place to safely manage aircraft movements. The severe winter weather impacted flights to and from Toronto Pearson, and flight schedules may change throughout the day as airlines work to restore normal operations following yesterday’s delays and cancellations. Flights to and from Atlantic Canada and certain parts of the U.S. may be impacted today as the system moves through the region. Passengers are advised to check directly with their airline before coming to the airport. Those travelling to Toronto Pearson should allow extra time and drive safely. For passengers taking the UP Express, please note it is operating every 30 minutes. We will continue to provide operational updates throughout the day.

CLT Airport has been recognized among the 40 airports for reducing flight schedules; however, we have not been notified of any reductions at CLT at this time. Our airline partners, including American, will determine and communicate any schedule changes directly to customers. CLT remains in close communication with our federal and airline partners to stay informed and responsive as needed. There are currently no significant impacts to airport operations. Passengers should check flight status with their airline and plan to arrive in the terminal two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights. We extend our sincere thanks to all our partners, especially TSA and ATC staff, for their continued commitment to ensuring travelers reach their destinations safely.

I have just been alerted of a situation involving mostly Nigerian passengers left stranded at Lome, Togo, by Air France. I am told that the flight from Paris bound for Abuja could not land due to the bad weather in Abuja this evening. The flight then diverted to Lome. However, the confounding situation now is that instead of bringing the passengers back to Abuja after the storm subsided, there are plans to leave them in Lome till tomorrow, even when that same flight will return to Abuja tonight to pick passengers. After directing my Director of Air Transport management to call the country Manager of Air France, I also personally called Air France NG a few minutes ago and insisted that those passengers must be brought back to Abuja tonight or be treated in line with best international standards if they must sleep in Lome.

It has come to my attention that some Nigerians on an Air France flight from Paris to Abuja are presently stranded in Chad, from where the flight earlier dropped some passengers. I have immediately directed the Consumer Protection Department of NCAA to swing into action and engage Air France. We shall inform everyone of the outcome soon. Meanwhile, I urge Air France NG to immediately issue a statement on the fate of those Nigerians
