Airplane mode is starting to mean something very different. Another fleet is getting the Starlink treatment. Starlink is now live on selected Southwest flights, giving passengers seamless high-speed Wi-Fi from the word go. Movies. Games. Work calls. Multiple devices. All while you’re miles above the ground. Starlink is becoming...

Being stuck at 35,000 feet for 10 hours with useless Wi-Fi is torture. Starlink is turning high-speed connection into a deciding factor for passengers choosing a flight. United has already connected more than 9 million devices, and passenger Wi-Fi satisfaction has nearly doubled since the rollout. On a long flight, fast internet means you can work, stream, message and basically get those hours back. The next airline loyalty test might be very simple: does it have Starlink? 🇺🇸 Starlink is now rolling out across Southwest Airlines’ fleet, bringing high-speed satellite Wi-Fi from TAKEOFF to LANDING. Passengers on equipped aircraft can stream, game, work and connect multiple devices throughout their flight. Southwest plans to have 300+ aircraft equipped by the end of the year. Writer: Mhedi

10,200 operational Starlink satellites are impressive. But having them talk to one another is where it gets really interesting. The V3 satellites tested on Starship all connected through laser links, while Starlink’s broadband fleet is already delivering around 800 Tbps of downlink capacity. Now combine that inter-satellite network with Starship carrying much larger V3 deployments. More capacity. More routes for the data. More places Starlink can reach properly. This is becoming one very capable orbital network. Starlink SpaceX / Writer: Annette, Grok Imagine Designer: Janné

EL AL is bringing Starlink to its fleet for the first time starting in 2027. Israel’s national airline is investing in advanced tech as Tel Aviv routes become more competitive again. Better onboard connectivity becomes part of the ticket, not a sad little add-on hiding behind a payment page. For EL AL, that matters on long-haul flights. For Israel, it is another public link to SpaceX’s next-gen space infrastructure. Starlink SpaceX / Writer: Annette, Designer: Janné

Modern precision farming is getting very weird in the best way with Starlink. A tractor in the middle of nowhere can now send live data, stream camera feeds, track fuel use, monitor soil, guide planting, and talk to cloud systems. All because a Starlink dish is sitting on the roof like it belongs there. Farmers used to lose signal in the field. Now the fields are online... from space!! Frontier flights are getting Starlink in 2027. Yes, the budget airline. The WiFi era has officially reached the “cheap seat, full stream” stage. Frontier becomes the first U.S. ultra-low-cost carrier to adopt Starlink. Streaming. Gaming. Scrolling. Actual internet at altitude. This is part of a much bigger rollout, with Starlink set to equip 1,000+ aircraft across Indigo Partners airlines. Budget flights are starting to look a little less budget. The wilderness used to come with an automatic out-of-office reply. Starlink now delivers hundreds of Mbps in places where cell towers simply don’t exist. So you can work, call home, stream, upload, or check the weather without giving up the reason you went remote in the first place. Go off grid. Keep the WiFi. Emirates Starlink crossed 1M passenger connections in seven months. That is a lot of people refusing to accept “you’re on a plane” as an excuse for bad WiFi. 36 aircraft are already connected, with 60+ Starlink-equipped flights operating daily. Passengers have burned through more than 1 petabyte of data. Video calls. Streaming. Gaming. Scrolling. One million connections later, I think the verdict is in. Starlink in-flight WiFi went from “cool experiment” to airline checklist item very quickly. Qatar made the first Starlink flight in 2024, then casually video-called Elon from 35K feet. Now around 41 airlines have Starlink deals in motion. Some are testing. Some are rolling out. Some already have passengers using it at 35K feet. “Does it have Starlink?” becomes part of the booking process. Starlink Qatar Airways / Writer: Annette, Designer: Janné

SpaceX is building an AI data center for orbit, then reusing the same brain box on Earth. Starmind AI1 packs NVIDIA Rubin GPUs and Vera CPUs, solar power and Starlink laser links into one orbital system. On the ground, Elon says they can remove the solar wings and radiators while keeping the core compute design. Same brain. Different address. But a major improvement in data center efficiency. Starlink is now connecting police stations and emergency units across Lesotho. More than 25 sites. Remote rooftops. Traffic systems. Disaster-prone highlands. Places where “normal internet” starts sweating. Lesotho gave Starlink a 10-year license and got on with it. South Africa is still stuck at the gate over B-BBEE ownership rules. Starlink is ready. Politics is buffering. Starlink / Writer: Annette, Designer: Janné

Italy’s mountain dead zones just got put on notice. Starlink and Fastweb started Italy’s first Direct-to-Cell trial in the central Apennines. A normal 4G smartphone can connect directly to Starlink satellites outdoors when the ground signal disappears. No bulky satellite phone brick needed. No dramatic rescue device. That is how dead zones start getting embarrassed. Starlink / Writer: Annette, Designer: Janné

Eventually, every car will have better internet than your house used to. Starlink is the only realistic way to give billions of cars the huge amount of bandwidth they’ll actually need. Not just for music and maps. Autonomous cars will be constantly moving AI data, downloading updates and staying connected wherever the road takes them. Starlink itself is heading toward 100,000+ satellites, direct-to-cell and future versions with up to 50x today’s throughput. Losing signal on a road trip could become very old-school. STARMIND sounds like something from a sci-fi movie. Naturally, SpaceX set its mind to make it real. Starlink connects the world from space. STARMIND would run AI from space. Solar-powered orbital compute, laser-linked satellites, and eventually a massive xAI network above Earth. Starlink's wi-fi connection went into orbit first. Now the xAI brain wants a launch window. Turns out, the 3,000 Terafab jobs are just the opening act. Elon says they’re only for phase 1 of a 10-phase build. With investment potentially passing $100 billion, Terafab is being built to make the huge number of chips Tesla and SpaceX expect to need for FSD, Cybercab, Optimus, Starlink and Starship. So yes, 3,000 jobs is a lot. It’s also just the beginning. Tesla @Optimus Starlink SpaceX / Writer: Annette, Grok Imagine Designer: Janné

Starlink is doing the kind of thing that changes a classroom without changing the building. In Paraguay, 1,600 schools are getting high-speed internet for more than 50,000 students and teachers, especially in remote regions where reliable service was never a normal thing. In Bangladesh, Starlink and JAAGO Foundation are connecting 30,000 students across 167 classrooms and 26 districts. A child should not need the right postal code to learn digital skills. Geography is losing power over a child’s future. Starlink JAAGO Foundation / Writer: Annette, Grok Imagine Designer: Janné

Starlink V3 is the kind of upgrade where you check the numbers twice. It could bring around 100x more total space-based bandwidth. Each V3 satellite is expected to deliver roughly 1 Tbps downlink capacity, while V2 Mini sits around 96 Gbps. Then Starship makes the plan even more ridiculous, because now SpaceX can launch far more of them. More users. Higher speeds. Lower latency. Direct-to-cell. AI traffic. Starlink is prepping for a sky that has a lot more internet to give. Starlink / Writer: Annette, Designer: Janné
