For those of who are wondering WHO's statue that is and asking WHY is "racer" Ajithkumar, aka AK, literally praying to him !!! #AyrtonSenna or "#MagicSenna" as he was fondly called by #Formula1 racing fans around the world was the Original "#RainMaster" and a Brazilian Formula One Racing God♥️ He was a 3 time World Champion: 1988,90,91. That last year,1991, was the year many of us got initiated into F1 Racing and caught glimpses of the sport on TV or Sports Magazines and via friends with European friends 😅 Senna had a Massive 65 Poles and 41 Wins in the decade that he drove ... from 1984 to that fateful crash in Imola in 1994 😕 Did you know that the next man to be known as the "RainMaster", the phenom, my favourite, #MichaelSchumacher was in 2nd place when Ayrton Senna crashed on lap 7... The race continued and Michael went on to Win that race. It was like a sign that Schumy was indeed going to take over the mantle from Senna. Schumy is said to have found it very hard to accept Senna's passing from that crash. Some say he blamed himself for putting pressure on Senna eventhough Senna had a good lead and the crash was due to a steering column failure or something. Michael's emotions poured out when he equalled Senna's 41 Wins record YEARS later. (watch the attached clip) Ayrton raced with legends like "Professor" Prost, Piquet and the "Lion" Nigel Mansell ! Senna didn’t drive cars. He drove emotions. He didn’t chase podiums. He chased perfection... like Lauda or Prost or Schumy... That same race weekend in which Senna crashed Rubens Barrichello also crashed and I remember reading Senna Visited Rubens in the hospital... I think another driver crashed and passed during qualifying and then Senna went too ! Those were the days when safety standards were very low...and the driver had to trust his skills to get over the finish line AND get back home safely. So now you know WHY many people like me, around the world STILL idolise Senna and why #AK knelt before that statue of a #LEGEND. #Senna #KeepFightingMichael

🇮🇹 1981 Italian Grand Prix Lap 20 Car 7 🇬🇧 John Watson - McLaren MP4/1 Car 4 🇮🇹 Michele Alboreto - Tyrrell 010 John Watson’s accident at the 1981 Italian Grand Prix at Monza is widely remembered as one of the most significant turning points in Formula 1 history. It wasn't just a terrifying crash; it was the ultimate, real-world test that permanently changed how racing cars were built. On Lap 20 of the race, Watson lost control of his McLaren exiting the high-speed Second Lesmo bend. The car spun and struck the trackside barriers at roughly 140 mph (225 km/h). The violence of the impact was immense and it tore the engine and gearbox completely off the back of the car. The breakaway rear assembly bounced across the track and clipped Michele Alboreto’s Tyrrell, forcing him out of the race as well. To the absolute shock of the crowd and commentators, Watson opened his visor, unbuckled his harness, and walked away from the smoking, shattered wreckage entirely uninjured. Before the 1981 season, Formula 1 chassis were traditionally constructed from sheets of riveted or welded aluminum. However, for 1981, McLaren designer John Barnard introduced the McLaren MP4/1—the very first F1 car to feature a monocoque made entirely from carbon fiber composite material. The F1 paddock was deeply skeptical of this "mysterious black plastic." Many rival designers and team bosses openly criticized the move, confidently predicting that if a carbon fiber car suffered a major accident, the chassis would "crack like an egg" or disintegrate into a lethal cloud of sharp, black dust. Watson's crash proved the exact opposite. While the aluminum parts and engine mounts sheared off as intended to dissipate energy, the central carbon fiber tub enclosing Watson remained completely intact. It didn't shatter; it absorbed and deflected the massive load, acting as an impenetrable safety cell. Watson's survival at Monza effectively validated carbon fiber technology, establishing the blueprint for the modern carbon composite survival cells that continue to save drivers' lives in motorsport today. 🎥 Formula 1 John Watson McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team Autodromo Nazionale Monza #f1 #cars #accident #italy

“Most times, whenever I receive reports of police extortion in Anambra State, all I need is the particular unit involved and the transaction receipt. Once I contact the officers, they usually refund the money. But this particular case is different, and I will post it on social media because it is terr!ble. These officers in Ogidi have allegedly caused a lot of harm. This same young man and his twin brother were reportedly shøt by the same police officers during an alleged accidental discharge incident. His twin brother di€d instantly, while he survived.” — Kasie speaks out. According to Kasie, the incident first happened in March when he and his late twin brother went to Ogidi Junction at night to buy something. He claimed police officers were having issues with some people nearby when stray b¥llets allegedly hit both him and his brother. His brother reportedly d!£d instantly, while he survived the shøøting. Kasie further alleged that on Saturday, May 9, 2026, he went out with his distant cousin at the same location when they were double-crossed by police officers, who allegedly forcefully collected their motorcycle and phones and demanded ₦200,000. According to him, the officers later reduced the amount to ₦10,000. However, while he went to withdraw the money, his cousin was allegedly asked to pay ₦20,000. The cousin reportedly began making calls for help, and the situation escalated after the officers allegedly caught him recording them. Kasie claimed the officers then ass#ulted the young men and later demanded ₦200,000 again, before they eventually paid ₦170,000. But later formatted the young men phones

'The narrative of the last few years is that Lewis Hamilton is washed, but if you actually look at the numbers and the context, I know that's tough for some, that falls apart real quickly.' 'This comes off of the Mexican Grand Prix qualifying where he stuck it in P3. Since the summer break, Hamilton's average qualifying gap to Leclerc, one of the best single lap drivers in Formula 1, is just 30 milliseconds. That's right, 30 milliseconds. And here's the kicker. Leclerc is in his prime.' 'Hamilton is 40, in a brand new team, learning an entirely different car philosophy, working with a completely new crew of engineers. He's really not supposed to be this close yet.' 'He's supposed to be learning still, but the data says otherwise. In Mexico, he was just 9 milliseconds off. In Singapore, he out-qualified Leclerc by a tenth. And he's quietly closing the gap while everyone else, including parts of the media, keep pushing this lazy narrative that he's lost it.' 'And you know what? It makes sense. Calling Lewis Hamilton washed is an easy one from a storytelling perspective. It avoids the complexity of what he's actually doing, adapting to this ground effect era and learning Ferrari's quirks, and still matching one of the great and quick drivers of his generation.' 'We talk a lot about greatness when it's obvious, wins, titles, domination, but real greatness looks like this, staying relevant when the odds say you shouldn't be. So here's the question. Are we witnessing Hamilton's decline? Or his reinvention.' 📹 tyrellformula1 / IG

Accredited Video Journalist Assaulted at Helsinki Book Fair: Finnish Police finally released video documenting the Article 10 Freedom of Expression (Press) attack on a noted Journalist. On 23 October 2024, the Messukeskus Center granted accreditation to Finnish video journalist Panu Huuhtanen, inviting him to attend the Helsinki Book Fair - recognized as the largest literary event in the Nordic countries. As part of the invitation, Mr. Panu Huuhtanen was offered a complimentary ticket, parking, and access to the media center to cover the event. Footage from the 26 October 2024 event shows Huuhtanen arrived without incident and clearly wore his press credentials around his neck. Huuhtanen took an early seat in the front row to listen to the controversial speaker, Ms. Jessikka Aro. Early security footage indicates that Huuhtanen may have been targeted upon his arrival. As expected of a photojournalist, Huuhtanen recorded several short video clips prior to Ms. Aro's appearance on stage. However, unidentified security officials dressed in black confronted him, to intentionally obstruct and censor his ability to report freely. During this initial confrontation, Huuhtanen was welcomed by a passing former official of a politican party. However, the situation deteriorated when an unknown man, wearing a badge, approached Huuhtanen and allegedly subjected Huuhtanen to defamation and verbal abuse. As observed in the video, prior to Ms. Aro commencing her address, security officials again engaged in contact with Huuhtanen. At the moment of this contact, Huuhtanen’s camera was in his pocket. Huuhtanen maintained a non-threatening posture with his hands clearly visible behind nearby chairs. The video evidence demonstrates security officials initiated physical contact and grappled Huuhtanen. Once in their control, the video shows Huuhtanen being knocked to the floor, where he suffered an unseen injury from a pressure point strike, causing him severe pain and impairing the mobility of his leg. Huuhtanen was then dragged/carried to a corner and restrained by multiple individuals all dressed in black attire; all lacked the standard security or police uniforms. Despite Huuhtanen's urgent pleas for medical assistance, security officials stood him up on the injured leg and forcibly walked him to a garage area, knowing full well the pain they inflicted upon him. Huuhtanen was later transported to the hospital for medicine and treatment for a two-week period due to the injury to the leg. Remarkably, that after the police office have had possession of this video for the past two weeks, they have failed to charge the unknown “security team” (or others who participated in the attack) with any crimes ranging from assault, battery, kidnapping, defamation, making a false police report, and/or engaging in a European Convention on Human Rights Article 10 Freedom of Expression (Press) attack for the sole purpose of censoring the accredited press. Certainly, the prosecutors and police officers, could not be so uninformed of the law as to believe the security officials’ excuse that Huuhtanen - an invited accredited photojournalist - cannot take (non-flash) pictures at the event held in a public place before, during and after Ms. Aro’s speech. All there is to do now is to wait for the day when police and prosecutors will charge said security officers (and/or others) who without provocation - to Article 10 censor the press - assaulted, committed battery, kidnapped, and/or defamed Huutanen.

🔊UNBELIEVERS: ONE MORE TIME—DON'T CLOSE YOUR EARS!! The tribulation is coming, and you are completely unprepared for what’s around the corner! It will be the worst time in all of history, and you have no idea what’s coming. God is about to unleash His judgment on this world, and NO ONE will stop Him. The 7-year tribulation will soon begin, but before that, He will come to take His Church OUT of this world. IT'S TIME TO TURN TO JESUS!! 🔥Times are about to change once the Church is removed! The world as we know it will come to an end and it will face the 7-year tribulation. 📜It's all written in the book of Revelation which is a letter written by Jesus to His Church, where He tells us HOW He will judge and unveil His divine nature to this world after being hidden for 6,000 years. He opens the scroll and breaks the seals, revealing what is about to happen. ⚠️SNEAK PEEK OF WHAT'S COMING UP! 👉🏼First, Jesus will descend from heaven to resurrect and rapture His Church. All believers who have died in Him will be raised from the dead, and then, those of us who are still alive will be taken to heaven to be the Lord. The world will try to spin it as if it's related to aliens or some other fabricated story—do NOT be deceived! Remember, it's written: 📖 "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord." 1 Thess 4:15-17 🖊️After the Church is taken away, the Antichrist will emerge and will sign a 7-year peace agreement with Israel allowing them to rebuild the third temple. This agreement will mark the beginning of the 7-year tribulation. It will be a time of great trouble, the worst the world has ever seen! 👉🏼During this time, according to the Book of Revelation, God will unleash 21 divine judgments upon the Earth, leading to the death of over half the world's population. These judgments will include turning both the seas and fresh drinking water into blood and causing the sun and moon to lose their light. 📜THIS IS HOW IT WILL UNFOLD: 👉🏼 Seven Seals: 1/4 of the world’s population dies. (Revelation 6) 1. The White Horse (Antichrist-false peace). 2. The Red Horse (War). 3. The Black Horse (Drought/Famine/Economic disaster). 4. The Pale Horse (Plague/Disease). 5. Martyrdom of those who refuse to worship the beast (The Tribulation saints massacre). 6. A massive earthquake reshapes the earth. 7. Silence in Heaven. 👉🏼 Seven Trumpets: 1/3 of the world’s population dies. (Revelation 8-11) 1. Hail and fire mixed with blood. 2. A great mountain cast into the sea. 3. Wormwood — a meteor that poisons a third of the drinking water. 4. A third of the sun, moon, and stars darkened (great cold and darkness) 5. First Woe (Those who accept the mark suffer under a plague of demonic locusts). 6. Second Woe (one-third of mankind killed by a demon army). 7. Third Woe (Lightning, Voices, Thunder, an Earthquake, and Great hail.) 👉🏼 Seven Vials/Bowls (Revelation 16) 1. Grievous Sores on those who take the mark of the beast. 2. The rest of the seas turn to blood. 3. Rivers and fountains turned to blood. 4. Great heat. 5. Great darkness over the earth. 6. The Euphrates River dries up. 7. A Massive earthquake and vast earth changes. 🕞During the midpoint of the tribulation, 3.5 years after the Antichrist signs the deal with Israel, he will sit in the temple, declaring himself as God and demanding to be worshipped. Israel will realize they've been deceived and seek refuge. If you're still here during this time, DO NOT ACCEPT THE MARK OF THE BEAST, it will be your doom, and you will go straight to hell! 👉🏼 The Battle of Armageddon (Revelation 19) At the conclusion of the seven years, the Beast's armies, alongside the kings from the east, assemble in the Megiddo Valley (Israel) with the intent to annihilate the remaining Jewish population. At this moment Christ will return in power and glory, accompanied by the Armies of Heaven. Together, they defeat the evil armies, securing the final victory! 👉🏼 The Judgment of the Nations (Matthew 25) Christ judges the remaining nations. This will be the end of the 6,000 years and a new era will begin for this world. 👉🏼THE MILLENIAL KINGDOM: Christ will reign on the throne of David in Israel, ruling over the earth for a thousand years. During this time, the world will be freed from the curse of sin, and it will become a peaceful place, as it was originally intended to be from the beginning! 🔥As far as our understanding goes, without salvation, all those who rejected Him will be sent to Hades (Luke 16:22–23) upon death, where they will experience an excruciating time waiting for the end of the 7-year tribulation and the 1,000-year millennial period when Jesus will rule on Earth. 💣After this, Satan who was bound will be released, and he will revolt against God again, but his rebellion will be finally defeated. At that point, the Bible tells us that he will be thrown into the lake of fire (Revelation 19: 19-20; 20:7-10). Then everyone who has died, whether they were important or not who rejected Christ and His cross, will face God at the "Great White Throne" (Revelation 20:11–15). 👉🏼Next, "the books" described in Revelation 20: 12 will be opened. These books hold records of everyone's deeds, whether good or evil. It's crucial to understand that God knows everything that has ever been said, done or even thought. Using this information, God will fairly judge each person based on their actions. 📕Another book will be opened at this moment, known as the "Book of Life" (Revelation 20: 12). This specific book plays a crucial role in deciding whether a person will receive eternal life with God or endure eternal punishment in the lake of fire. 🔥On this horrific day, all those who are not morally perfect and have rejected the free gift of salvation in Christ, His cross, will be thrown into hell, known as the lake of fire. Their fate will be sealed, and there will be NO HOPE of ever getting out! (Revelation 20:13) 👉🏼I don't share any of these terrible things with you to scare you, but to awaken you to the reality you face. The most important decision of your entire life is where you put your trust. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life! He died so you can spend eternity at His side! 👉🏼God says: 📖" ‘As I live,’ says the Lord God, ‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?" Ezekiel 33:11 ✝️Ready or not, the world as we know it is coming to an end, and at the end of that road, we will ALL face HIS cross. At that point, our future will depend on ONE decision we make here on Earth — choosing Jesus! Jesus Christ is Lord! 🔚At the end of that road, it will not matter what your opinion of Jesus is anymore. The Bible states that "every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord." 🔊 At the cross is where it all ends for every person who has ever lived. The most important decision that you could ever make in your life is to believe in Jesus, this is where our life truly begins! 🔊TURN to HIM BEFORE YOUR FATE IS SEALED! DON'T REFUSE HIS INVITATION!! Jesus is coming for His Church to rescue us from those horrific 7 years of tribulation that the world must endure. We are at the end of the road! 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼 ⚠️Believe Jesus is the Son of God, who shed His blood for you, and died on the cross for our sins, He was buried and resurrected during the third day, according to the Scriptures, so we can have eternal life with Him. The moment you believe in Him and that He died for your sins - you're saved, justified, sealed until the day of redemption, and rapture ready! The Holy Spirit will come to live inside of you - He will help you, guide you, change you, and be with you FOREVER! 📖"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." This video is heart touching. It is another testimony that there are great people in Nigeria. The boy is a Keke rider in Kano state, Northern Nigeria. He found some money left by a Chadian business man & his friend he took to a market, to the tune of ₦13 Million naira (both the CFA and Naira). He took the money home & consulted him blessed mother. She asked him to wait for his father which he did. The father & uncle took him to go search for the owners where he dropped them, but they didn't find the owners. The next day, he heard a Lost & Found announcement in Arewa Radio Station Kano, and he picked the contact number announced. The owners asked for his location to collect the money but he insisted they both meet at the radio station that made the announcement (a smart move). The amazing part about this story is the fact that this boy comes from a home that is financially very poor, but morally one of the richest you can ever find today anywhere in the world. According to the story, the day the boy returned that money, his parent and himself fed on Garri because that was all they could afford. Meanwhile, the money was still with them at that time. Can you beat that?!❤️❤️. May Allah bless the mother, the father and the uncle for this excellent training. Please can someone in Kano find us the boy's details from Arewa Radio and we see what we can help him raise? Can we please contribute something and see if we can assist him with what he desires for growth? I hope the Kano state government under His Excellency Abba Kabir Yusuf will also grant this highly honest boy an opportunity to progress his life beyond Keke riding. I have high hope in this country. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria 🇳🇬.

Celebrating this historic European championship victory for Aston Villa, the Prince of Wales took to social media to congratulate them and ended his message saying, UTV for Villa's slogan "Up the Villa!" and VTID for "Villa Till I Die" reaffirming his loyalty to the team and that is quite the Royal superfan, isn't it? 😁😍 In every situation, there is a Life lesson to be learned and the win yesterday which was 44 years in the making, shows that Success in Life is achievable, regardless of how many challenges and setbacks we encounter on our way there. But it takes three key ingredients to make it happen: •Dare to dream and have that vision; • Be willing to put in the Hardwork to make that dream a reality; • and keep Optimism and Hope high so as to never give up until the goal is reached; and this is honestly the hardest part of it all👌🏾 Prince William has been an Aston Villa fan since he was a child. He recalled during a podcast discussing his passion for the team: “I had some family friends who took me to my first Villa game when I was younger because they are big Villa fans,” “I sat in the stands with my Villa beanie hat on…With the camaraderie among the fans and the chanting and the singing, I just felt like I belonged there.”❤️ Almost 3 decades later, here he was in the stands howling and crying happy tears in celebration for Aston Villa's victory. For the emotional day, Prince William surrounded himself with 3 of his closest childhood friends: •Edward van Cutsem, who together with his brothers William and Nicholas van Cutsem, have grown up with Prince William and his brother on the Sandringham Estate. King Charles and the Late Hugh van Cutsem were great friends from university and KC is godfather to Edward while Nicholas and William Van Cutsem are godfathers to Prince George. Edward took his 16 year old son with him and he was sitting in between Prince William and his father in the box, dancing to "sweet Caroline"😁❤️ • Next to Edward van Cutsem sat Thomas van Straubenzee, another childhood friend of William who serves as godfather to Princess Charlotte. They are very often seen together since their youth and he used to "chaperone" Catherine when she was dating William. • Finally Ben Dawes another childhood friend was on his right screaming and hugging his old friend as they went through the emotions together😂 Following the match, Prince William was spotted celebrating with Aston Villa at the team’s afterparty. Defender Victor Lindelöf’s wife, Maja, posted a picture of her partying with the Prince, writing ‘Going off the rails’. Oh no please 😭😅 Remember when Some bitter ex royal, sat on TV looking forlorn, while claiming that he was "free" to enjoy his life while his brother was "trapped" and miserable🫠 Well, It sure looks from there as if William is the one who is trult enjoying his life as he pleases😏 What's not to enjoy? his future is set and assured without any financial worry, he has good health, he is doing what he likes to do successfully, lives where he wants to live, he can travel freely when he wants to, he has the wife and family he wanted and he has loyal friends, a loving family and a beautiful country to call home who loves him back.❤️ According to acclaimed author, Dale Carnegie in his iconic book about Lifetime success, "The Greatest success in Life, is to ENJOY your life"🔥 And for all intent and purposes, Prince William is enjoying the salt out of life so much, he is sucking the marrow out of it surrounded by the people he loves; and that my dear is the greatest success of in life☕️ #PrinceofWales 📹 Tokkianami

‡ The Pacific Classic Result It was unfortunate that Nysos was scratched, but the result was interesting, with Fierceness, the 1.6/1 second-favorite, comfortably handling Journalism, the (overbet) 2/5 choice. That the odds of the remaining five runners ranged between 22/1 and 72/1, underscored the yawning gap in quality between the top pair and the rest. So it was clearly no surprise that the "also-rans" toiled in their wake. What was surprising, at least at first glance, was how well Fierceness appeared to handle less than ideal conditions. But on closer inspection, his trip was actually far less challenging than the vast majority of post-race takes have suggested. His having ducked in soon after the start, almost making contact with the temporary extension rail, could have been a disaster, but it wasn't, and its importance has arguably been overblown. I say that because it was not similar to the trouble that he had encountered early in some of his previous races, in that he was in his own space, and was neither bumped, constricted, nor otherwise intimidated by other runners. This is an important distinction, because the mental weakness that he had previously displayed was related to close encounters with other horses, and his ducking-in after the break did not fall into that category. Inexperienced horses may suffer from that type of self-inflicted event, but given a mature, experienced runner, they are almost always forgotten quickly, which was clearly the case here. The fact that it was a long race also helped to mitigate the event, as there was no need for the rider to panic, or feel pressure to make up ground immediately. It is even possible that the early ground loss actually helped Fierceness, as had he been drawn closer to the pace early, it could have rendered him vulnerable in the late stages of the race. At the same time, due to the inside post, and how the race unfolded, Johnny Velasquez, who has done such a brilliant job keeping Fierceness outside and clear of his rivals in his previous wins, was forced to make the best of racing inside of horses. I understand why some are tempted to argue that Fierceness displayed a new dimension, as there were no obvious signs of him having been intimidated, despite the inside trip. But while I am willing to consider the possibility that he has gained confidence, I remain skeptical of any significant change, in part because it would be highly unusual for a horse to overcome that type of mental weakness midway through its four-year-old season, and/or in its 13th start. I also remain unconvinced for more subtle reasons. First, Fierceness was never bounced around, and with the possible exception of the first turn, he was never forced to race in especially tight quarters. Secondly, the rhythm of the race, after the initial duck-in, was actually smooth, and therefore beneficial to him. To understand why the above points are important, consider that Fierceness was never, so to speak, allergic to racing inside, but was more likely to face contact, be squeezed into a tight space, or have his rhythm thrown off when breaking from an inside post. In contrast, when breaking from an outside post, JV has invariably been able to place him clear of the pack, and in a comfortable, stalking rhythm. Fierceness is also essentially a free-runner, with a "light" mouth, and as such performs best when his rider allows him to dictate his own rhythm and pace. That is why, for example, Johnny V was not at all responsible for his loss in the Breeders' Cup Classic, as he is not the type of horse that a rider can take a strong hold of in order to restrain him further off of the pace, as that would discourage him. And to the great credit of both JV and Todd Pletcher, they picked up on this early on, and have done a superb job mitigating the colt's limitations, and maximizing his potential. In the Pacific Classic, despite racing on the inside, Johnny V remained cool and calm, and gave Fierceness another masterful ride. He and the colt's connections did benefit though, as none of his rivals, either intentionally or not, tightened things up significantly, or otherwise disrupted his rhythm. In fact, quite the opposite. Having tracked comfortably through much of the race, and with space around him, Fierceness displayed his trademark spurt on the final turn. And while the pan shot may suggest that he slipped though a tight opening, it was more like the red sea parting, as the embedded head-on view illustrates. If you are able to view the full head-on replay, you will find that despite racing inside, Fierceness actually enjoyed quite a comfortable trip, after the eventful few strides. A more subtle indication that we were watching the same horse as in his previous races comes :12-14 seconds into the embedded clip. When he was about to take the lead, he cocked his head to the right, as if he may have been worried about the horse outside of him. He was able to draw away from that one so quickly that it was ultimately of no practical consequence, but I would say that it implies that he hasn't suddenly developed the heart of a lion. *** Two qualities that have been crucial to Fierceness' success are his tactical speed, coupled with the separation that he produces on the final turn of his (two-turn) races. His ability to take command at that crucial stage has served him very well, particularly in his narrow win over Thorpedo Anna, and it was again on display in the Pacific Classic. A big part of the reason why that move has been such an important part of his arsenal is that it typically allows his him to take a "breather", before digging deep in an effort to fend off any late dangers. I encourage you to watch the (pan) replay of the Pacific Classic, and focus on Johnny V from around the 3/8th pole to the head of the stretch, as he was sitting like the proverbial statue. So for at least a furlong and a half, Fierceness was on cruise control, while Journalism, his only danger, was under pressure to make up ground, in an attempt to simply reach striking distance. But with all due credit to Fierceness and his rider for having produced fine efforts in the Pacific Classic, was this really an exceptionally outstanding performance, or was it at least partly a reflection of his only serious rival failing to run his best? I'm inclined to argue the latter. Despite Journalism having produced an unusually good 3yo campaign, capped by three Gr. I wins, including a Classic success in the Preakness, and never finishing worse than second, there have been some lingering questions. One of them is whether he is actually as well-suited to 10f. as he is to 8-9f. races. Yes, he was beaten in his two previous tries over 10f. by Sovereignty, a better horse. But in each race he was able to gain first-run on that one, an advantage that is typically difficult to overcome, yet lost ground late to the winner both times, and to Baeza as well, in the KY Derby. Some have suggested that he may have a tendency to loaf when in front, but I haven't seen any compelling evidence of that. And such horses typically dig in when passed, in efforts to re-engage, which we haven't seen, at least overtly, from Journalism. He also drew away from his rivals late in his first three wins. Alex Evers made this interesting comment about the kickback in the Pacific Classic: "I've photographed racing for 20 years, I've never seen kick back knock a jockeys goggles off like this." Here is a link to his supporting photos, which are typically excellent: Could that have discouraged Journalism? I suppose that it could have been an impediment, but he is such a tough and honest horse, that I would be surprised to learn that it was a meaningful factor. By contemporary standards, Journalism has also had a busy campaign, having raced a touch over once per month since March, all but one of which in Grade I events, and four times well away from his home base. So it is possible that he is beginning to feel the effects of those races, and travels. I have also noted that from a Beyer figure standpoint, he hasn't really moved forward, and it's worth noting that in contrast to Sovereignty and Baeza, both of which were late (May) foals, Journalism was a February foal, and may not have had quite as much room to improve. I don't know why he lagged so far behind in the early stages of the Pacific Classic, or if there was any tactical intention behind it. I had previously suggested that it might make sense to ride him more patiently, a tactic that is sometimes adopted when there are questions about a horse staying a trip. But I didn't notice any improved late kick, so it's difficult to interpret the performance. Fierceness earned a 107 Beyer figure for his victory, slower than his best three races last year, and merely equivalent to his comeback victory in the Gr. II Alysheba at Churchill Downs, in May. That doesn't suggest that it was a particularly outstanding performance. Journalism was given a 102, which implies that the return to his home court did not catalyze any notable forward move. *** I would say that there is one relevant pattern that has emerged, namely that Fierceness has an apparent affinity for the faster, high energy return track surfaces in California. He has now contested three races in CA (Beyer): 1st Breeders' Cup Juvenile (105) 2nd Breeders' Cup Classic (111) 1st Pacific Classic (107) It's also interesting to compare the colt's first and last half-mile fractions in his effort in last year's BCC, and the PC, both contested at Del Mar over 10f.: BCC – :45 1/5 • :51 3/5 PC – :46 1/5 • :50 2/5 Predictably, he finished better in the PC, thanks to more manageable early fractions. But would a repeat of that effort be nearly sufficient to win this year's Classic? Given the various points noted above, coupled with Sovereignty's continued improvement, and seemingly bottomless stamina, I would be inclined to say no. And that's before even factoring Sierra Leone, Mindframe, Forever Young, et al, into the conversation. But setting aside all of the fine parsing, I'm happy to congratulate Repole Stable, and Fierceness' other connections, for having shipped to California, and for being rewarded with an exciting, winning effort. Assuming that the colt makes it to the Breeders' Cup Classic in good order, he should minimally add spice to the race, and who knows, perhaps even provide a serious challenge to knock Sovereignty off of his current throne.
