Thousands of protesters took to the streets of Tirana on Wednesday against a planned $4 billion luxury tourism project linked to Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump. Demonstrators marched under the slogan "Albania is not for sale", opposing the development of a large scale resort in the ecologically sensitive Zvernec-Narta wetland and lagoon area near the coastal city of Vlora. Albanian anti corruption prosecutors have frozen the bank accounts of a landholding company linked to the project as part of a widening investigation into allegedly fraudulent property titles. I don't believe the flamingos in Albania would have caused such a stir if there hadn't been an opportunity to go after Donald Trump. But this has nothing to do with Donald Trump. When Kushner and Ivanka Trump came here, it was not yet clear whether Donald Trump would end up in prison or return to the White House.
